This video made me cry, I love seeing people get to live out their dreams. I want to major in film production at USC and will be applying this year. I visited once and absolutely fell in love, I never wanted to leave, and it felt like home. Hopefully I will get to move in next fall, fight on!

I am a UCLA undergrad student, but am admittedly unhappy with my decision thus far instead of attending Berkeley. I may opt to attend USC for grad school over UCLA if accepted to both....or even just go to Berkeley as I should done in the first place. I feel like UCLA has treated the students poorly in comparison to what USC students experience. Often, it is just a lack of resources more so than rudeness. Sure, UCLA generally has more academic prestige, but USC has numerous programs in the top 25 and even top 10 (including mine) and often the customization of the USC programs makes them more appealing, particularly for grad school. If you are struggling between UCLA and USC, just go to USC. You will have a better overall experience and do just fine in your professional life. Don't listen to all the overly biased UCLA folks who bash USC as being inferior. If money weren't a problem, I would transfer to USC right now.

Could you elaborate what's bad about UCLA?

I did a Master's and a Ph.D. At USC 1962-66. It opened my intellectual horizons. My profs were great academics and very hospitable to us foreign students. However, the funniest memory is about a group of students ( men) going to President Norman Topping and demanding that the weekend curfew on the dorms should be extended from 12 midnight to 2:00 am. Prof. Topping looked at the boys over his reading glasses and said: "boys what you could not achieve by 12 O' Clock, you would not by 2 O' Clock." This made the front page headline in the Campus paper. By the way there were no co-ed dorms at USC then and once in a while if a girl invited a man to her room ( day time only) she had to walk in front in the corridor shrieking on top of her voice: " Man on the floor, Man on the floor." To date a Sorority sister one had to appear before a "Judicial".

You'll love USC. Graduated awhile ago, the school has come so far and is improving things all the time. My first piece of advice is don't forget why your're there, to learn and experience as much as you can. Welcome to the family!

Just got my acceptance letter yesterday!!! I'm a finalist for a half tuition scholarship and I'm soo excited :D

I'm UCLA student, and I have to say that I envy your dorm room. Oh well, I live in apartment now. Much better than any dorm. Congrats for her getting in her dream school.

I'm from North Dakota so I understand the dark and cold winters! I have only been there once and I loved it. It's way different than what I"m used to because my entire state only has about half a million people, but I loved the diversity! It was also my first time seeing the ocean which was amazing to me and I loved loved loved the weather.

USC is great! I attend there now for grad school and we are the best...FIGHT ON!

I am from Colombia so I didn't have lots of information about the US universities but I been researching and you are right I just saw the rankings and physical therapy is #1, now I know that the USC is the right place for me, to make my dreams come true and now I really want to get in and make my graduate program there after I get my degree here! The only think that worries me now is the area of the university because some say is not the best of the LA, thanks!!

@allyz04, USC is amongst the top universities in the United States, and perhaps even in the world. They expect grades that amount to 3.7-4.5 GPA's, not only because of the university's prestiege, but because of the high competition applicants face. Good luck!

Argh this is making it difficult for me, the weather and everything seems so cool. What's the social life like in Cali? Is it hard to get into USC though? I want to apply for economics but in the UK we do A levels I cant find anything on the USC website about A level entry grades.

I have personally been to Harvard and it is not even close to being in a bad area. I never told them to apply to UCLA instead. I even pleasantly mentioned I was applying to both schools. I gave them an alternative assuming that they wanted to go to school in California because of it's weather and other stereotypes (beaches etc.). I didn't know having a diploma was a requirement to talk about colleges. Kind of weird.

@natitoces87 You've heard about the rivalry between USC and UCLA then! To be honest, they are academically on the same level. For PT, USC is clearly better though. I think you'll enjoy USC more because it admits the most international students of all the universities in the country. Also, I was pre-health and USC offers so many more chances to volunteer and work in the community because of its location. This invaluable experience augments the curriculum tremendously. You will love USC!

I can't wait until I can send in my application and hopefully be accepted into the Trojan family! I am currently in 9th grade and graduate high school in 2016. I just want it all to fly by so i can just go to college in California and get out of the south and just have a fresh new start. lol Cali's weather is amazing. It's warm and sunny, but the cool winds that breeze by will balance the temperature; a perfect harmony. I've visited the campus and it looks amazing, although, quite ironically, architecture building looks like it needs work haha. Maybe it's a tradition, so I can't judge :p

Sounds good the social life for the english unis ive applied to is fare good. Do you tend to go into LA much like the city side? I was thinking about a scholarship but it will be difficult to get a golf one considering I haven't played in a year and getting to 0 handicap in less than a year will be even harder, but it's maybe worth a shot? What have you applied for? I want to study economics or econ and finance. UCLA said you need high a levels but didn't say the entry requirements, waaaaaa :(

Depends, if you’re coming from out of state and it may be a LOT more expensive, while in state would be cheaper.

I wish I too was adopted by rich parents and sent to USC for college.

Sam Mustard That is a bogus myth and I say that as a UCLA student. Yes, rich people can buy their way into some private universities such as USC, but not others such as Stanford. However, most people are just regular folks or even lower income and receive great financial aid packages or take out loans and just have to deal with paying them off.

Does anyone have a good/bad experience regarding financial aid? Are they pretty generous with grants? I've heard some bad things about unrealistic EFC

Well I'm from North Dakota which makes me a minority in the eyes of colleges because they like people from all over the country and world. I have a 4.0 and am ranked 1 out of 381 (there are multiple #1s at my school, but colleges don't need to know that). I got a 32 on my ACT and have been involved in dance for 14 years. I also volunteer a decent amount and have a job! :)

is it really a top university??? and how is the major of physical therapy?? please, I need an honest opinion!!!! I want to enter a real top school and not a party school and some people say the USC is a party school.

Look at the Times Higher Education WORLD rankings. The QS rankings (more world renowned) say the same. UCLA is actually 13th in the world (not 8th). While USC is 56th. I'm pretty neutral between UCLA and USC but I just hate it when people get their facts wrong.

I know, I know, I sound really stupid right now, but I'm not korean either, but because kpop is such a big thing nowadays, I really think you should have a kpop dance thing. @natitoces87 USC was a "party school" decades ago. Unfortunately, it just retains that out-dated reputation. USC is undoubtedly a world renowned research university filled with students who are passionate about their education. I could say more, but since you're asking about Physical Therapy, you should look at the US news rankings. #1 in Physical Therapy. Can't beat that.
