    @@Fabiundso you're correct, some early releases of Sehnsucht had English versions of Du Hast and another song (Engel). However, the English lyrics were WAY different than the German ones, completely changing the meaning of the song. Still, in the interest of getting this to happen and saving poor Anthony some work, I think using those lyrics would be a perfectly fine idea.

    So he really did use Google Translate for this? He couldn't get one German speaker to help out? He really cares that little about his art? Why didn't he just leave the lyrics in English and sing it like Till? It would be lazier, but it would be less awkward. This is just a waste of time for all involved.

    Well, i go to classes, but Rammstein is indeed a good help. Till Lindemann has a very clear pronouncing, their lyrics are grammatically simple, and give a lot of vocabulary that they won't teach you in class.

  • @alexku8452

    @alexku8452

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@yanibarca Well, he has indeed a very clear pronounciation, yes, so he is really easy to understand what he actually sings, which is not valid for all German singers. Only thing which does not actually help that much learning German pronunciation is that Rammstein (or especially Till Lindemann) plays with some nowadays very uncommon pronounciation. Of course throughout Germany there are a lot of different and very distinct dialects which may pronounce some words differently or some, more "clean" than others. Oh and then there is bavarian or Saxonian or Frisian which almost counts as a different languages on their own. Oh well, I got way of track, so the way he pronounces words and rolls the R is very uncommon today. You will find this kind of pronounciation a lot in older recordings, especially from the beginning of the last century up to WW II and short after. After that, you found some who still rolled the R like that and you may still find some elderly people rolling the R like that (allthoug usually a lot less prominent), but generally it seems it more and more dissapeared over the last about 60 years. Why? Don´t ask me, My best guess would be that after the war quite a number of people moved within Germany for different reasons. Business was done more over wider areas than just local and people have been forced to speak more and more dialect less Hochdeutsch". And I am not even sure if this rather drmatic pronounciation was really widely spoken (My grandparents never mentioned anything like that and also never spoke like that, but that might have been due to the local dialect or dialect mix). Maybe it was just a thing at that time, to make your pronounciation a lot more understandable for the then new Radio broadcasts or for the recording mehtods of the time. As far as I know for recordings and those broadcasts, you had to speak quite loudly into the microfones compared to the sensibility of modern microphones. Maybe that is also why it seems like whoever got recorded back then sounds like almost shouting, or at least speaking to a large audience without amplification.

I think: a) They don't want people arguing in the comment section, and b) They want people to interpret the videos/songs as a stand alone thing, as opposed to scrolling down in the comments and having comments affect their first impression of the video. Of course people can google interpretations and discussions, but that's typically once they've already had their own first impression of it.

    He’s using his upper larynx a bit too much to try to sound like rammstien. Germans don’t roll their R’s and their I’s. They do that very gentle throat growl thing, a lot of people overdo the growl tho. Even then, the growl is more found in the southern dialect in Germany. Up north German speakers are actually rather gentle in their tonality! He’s trying too hard to sound “like a German.” Try being a bit less forceful when speaking, and consonants in german are emphasized. Go to the channel “Get Germanized” for some useful tips! 💜

    Ich finde, dass er teilweise so schwul singt. Also nichts gegen Schwule. Ich mein dieses Übertriebene, tuntenartige. So wie der Klischeeschwule spricht. Find ich lustig.

    There was a really funny interview with Rammstein when they dropped Benzin on what makes a song Rammstein. They did a hilarious flip on some generic boy band lyrics of the time, basically doing just what you did in addition to leaving out half the text. Amazing job:)

    "Ich möchte sehen wie du blutest" is a line that really could have been in a Rammstein song

    it sounds like a Rammtein cover. And since you don‘t speak German your pronunciation is very good. As a German speaker I understand every word you sing! Great job as ever!
