    You know what, I'm not a Christian or Moslem or Jew or Zoroastrian for that matter. I'm a person of no religious belief. But this place is amazing. You can feel something there. Like you can in places like Chalice Well in Glastonbury, or certain spots in Avebury, or Giza near Cairo. And various places like Kathmandu and Varanasi among others. Complete recharge and recovery of love for all beliefs, and beings for that matter, human or animal, and place of reflection on how we all treat each other. Or should.

    I have to say that I really felt a connection when I went there, it felt calm, peaceful and spiritual. The church of the Holy Sepulchre felt to commercial, not right and very aggressive (mostly because you were herded around). We visited the garden tomb early in the morning and amazingly managed to stay in the tomb alone for 5 minutes, as it was very quite. I have to return there, as I really feel this is the correct site of the crucifixion.

    So you can feel the vibes in the garden Tomb? The anointed stone in the Holy Sepulchre?

    I hope to visit both locations one day, I never knew about this one! From the looks of the signage (in English, no less), it looks like the Garden Tomb may actually be more 'commercial' to me, but it is beautiful and serene. I don't necessarily like how churches were built on TOP of some of these sites, so to keep it as a spiritual garden and accurate to the time period is wonderful.

    Thank you for this excellent presentation. I was there a few years ago, 2017 I was most impressed that there is no fee for admission. Just a beautiful space that was given so that you may believe that he rose again.

    As well as the Golgotha hillside appearing as the image of a skull, the other convincing point about this Garden Tomb site is that the shape cut out of the platform inside the tomb, prepared to place the body, was lengthened from the original size, hinting that it was carved out for one person, then adjusted to a taller body.

  • @TheGardenTombJerusalem

    @TheGardenTombJerusalem

    Please note that close archaeological examination of the tomb indicate that in its original formation there were burial benches, not burial niches. The niches were created centuries later (in the 5th century to be precise) by Byzantine Christians who did not consider it the tomb of Christ and were reusing it for the burial of monks. Even then, the tomb was not adjusted for a taller body than was originally intended. The Garden Tomb is careful not to spread misinformation about the location or to make claims that can not be backed up. There is simply no proof that this site is the exact historical location of the gospel events. We, therefore, do not focus on the location of the events but rather on the message and meaning of those events and aspire to be excellent caretakers of an important site of Christian witness and worship where those events are brought to life in modern Jerusalem.

    Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I want to tell you, with the greatest love and respect, that this Garden Tomb is not the burial place of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is a symbolic remembrance designated in the 19th century by Evangelical Christians. The Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem is the location of the original tomb. This was the recognized location of his tomb since the First Century, and has always been recognized as such. A church was erected over the tomb in order to protect it, hallow it, and preserve it as the holiest place in Christendom, being the center of the world's conflicts. Every year at Pascha, Easter, the Holy Spirit comes down with flames (which do not burn), just as in Pentecost, inside the tomb. This has been happening for many centuries. This your birthright as a believer in Christ: this is your heritage: this is Christ's gift to the world.

    The archaeology says that this can't possibly be the tomb of Jesus. It was carved in the iron age, 600 years before Jesus was born and during his life it had already been abandoned. Scripture tells us Jesus Tomb was brand new and never used. The garden there is also from the time of the crusades about 1200 years after Jesus death. Lastly in the scriptures it is CLEAR that Jesus Tomb was partially underground. Peter and Mary had to bend over to look down into the Tomb. John Chapter 20 The Empty Tomb 20 Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance. 2 So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!” 3 So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb. 4 Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. 5 He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in. 6 Then Simon Peter came along behind him and went straight into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there, 7 as well as the cloth that had been wrapped around Jesus’ head. The cloth was still lying in its place, separate from the linen. 8 Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed. 9 (They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.) 10 Then the disciples went back to where they were staying. Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene 11 Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb 12 and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.

    It sure is a lovely looking place though, it certainly LOOKS like what we would think the tomb would look like. It being a garden as well sort of blends it with Gethsemane, so the beginning and end of the passion story, not to mention Eden. I hope to visit it as well as the Holy Sepulchre, the worst that happens is you get to tour a beautiful garden and worship God there!

    @@TheGardenTombJerusalem I am so blessed to know that the stone is not there. I visited the site a few years ago and stood in the trough that is carved in the front for the rolling stone. The bible says that it was a great stone. In my estimation it would have been more that a foot thick and around 13 feet in diameter. Thank you for maintaining the beautiful gardens it is indeed a most awe inspiring place.
