    You could make it so that we can flip the orientation of these snaps with arrow keys, during placement of objects. Similar to locking direction when drawing lines of using move tool.

    Good thought, I hope we'll get keyboard shortcuts to help with flipping as well.

    Just tried this and the arrow keys do allow xyz orientation, as does single clicking and dragging into any direction.

    In version 2, have auto generate snaps so when you create a group, some default snaps are auto created. I don't see spending a lot of time creating snaps otherwise.

    For sure, they aren't going to be useful for every case, but since customization is the point, where would they be auto-generated Tony? Thanks

    If you look at how Assemblies work in Onshape, you will see that there is a tool or device that works more or less the way this one... This gizmo simply appears as an option when passing the cursor over the faces or edges or vertices of the drawings ...

    Great new feature, but it would be so much better if it worked in dynamic components. For example, placing a snap at the end of a component and having it "Stick" to the end when the length is changed. That would be a game changer!

    i created something like this in blender instead of snaps its the cursor. and clicking the object it directly move to the cursor. maybe it could impliment that here. an icon that move the object on snaps point

    I would like to give an opinion about the SNAPS. Could you create a more advanced set of tools where I could create different types of SNAPS? For instance: snap (A) only fits into snap (A), and snap (B) only fits into snap (B).... I work with steel structures, and this would make it much easier to prevent fitting in unauthorized or incompatible locations. Even though this is still not possible, I loved this new update. It's by far the best SketchUp update in the last 10 years (for me). It was the first time I felt the need to upgrade

    Such a shame they don't work that well inside components. Id imagine that to be the very first place Id want them to work in before releasing such a feature :) hopefully that gets polished real soon.

    Tyson, are snaps on the outer component shell going to save and be usable if loaded thru the component library?

  • @SketchUp

    @SketchUp

    10 ай бұрын

    Yes, snaps are saved in the comp library, but they don't place directly from the library, but once you bring them into your model, they should then work.

    Simulating motion with snaps as pivots or grounded points. Think 4 bar linkages. Similar to MotionGen Pro.

    Snaps will definitely make lining up piping and ducting 100% easier. But the video doesn't show how to get snaps aligned with the plane of a circle and at the center. How did you get your snaps aligned on the ducting in the video?

  • @SketchUp

    @SketchUp

    10 ай бұрын

    Snaps work with inferencing, just like the drawing tools. Hover over the edge of a circle, and the center should show up as a point you can place the snap on.

  • @markdenbow3485

    @markdenbow3485

    10 ай бұрын

    That works great for a flat circle by itself but if the circle is a part of the ducting as a 3D shape, in my Sketchup the center doesn't show and the inferencing is all over the place. I can't get the snap to orient flat and parallel to the open end of the ductwork.@@SketchUp

    Quick question, if i update Sketchup from 22 to 23, will all of my plugins and their icon placement remain?

  • @SketchUp

    @SketchUp

    10 ай бұрын

    They will not. Each version od SketchUp is a stand alone installtion. This way you can jump back to the previous version, if need be. It does mean you have to install your extensions and set up your workspce.

  • @florinapostoiu

    @florinapostoiu

    You do not need to reinstall each one..., just copy and paste the entire content of the plugins folder (in AppData -> Roaming) and you can place all of your icons in Fredo - Lord Off The Toolbars, which can be saved and imported across Sketchup versions. It will only remain to manually redo all the individual settings for every plugin, but many do not have individual settings.
