He's about a year old now and "mom" has a replacement. She IS a lot nicer than most so I'm only checking this channel to see if she's as fake as the rest - I didn't know of any previous monkeys. In any case in Vietnam pet monkeys are illegal but eveidently that doesn't matter.

So dramatic! Your brain must really hurt! She didn't take him from his mom. Someone else had him and he was suffering from a very bad cut down his leg. It was infected. She rescued him from those people and took him to a vet that surgically removed his foot that had died from infection. She did leg therapy on his leg daily and kept it clean. He bonded with her fast because he saw he could finally trust a human. That's the story take the ugly else where. Not everyone you see stole the baby from its moms arms. Geez

You are the dramatic one. You need to watch the original video where she “rescues” KOKo. Very little of your version is on that actual narrated video. I also don’t believe 99% of what them and others who keep IUCN rated status and protected monkeys. It is illegal for them to even own these monkeys. That is what gets me. Everyone talks about how good she is to him and I clearly remember videos where she was not so good and that doesn’t matter because she should not even have any monkey in her home.

I agree. I had been prepared to suspend scepticism and accept that Koko was an exceptional case of a monkey in need who wouldn't make it in the wild and was being genuinely cared for. But I see now I was naive and this is just another monkey exploiting grift. I'm done watching this corruption.
