    This really was an incredibly well written and thought out review, and I say that as someone who watches and reads a huge number of video and board game reviews. Really great work!

    I backed the kickstarter and I really like the game. I hear your points, and I get what you are saying, but I still have a lot of fun with the game. So no regrets backing it.

    I've only managed to play this once so far, but I'd say the main thing I experienced was exactly what Efka was talking about: stress! It's so hard to imagine what you might do in future turns, so drawing things in, drawing them in an efficient shape with efficient generator placement and efficient use of roads takes up so much brain power. I think I like it, but it's the crunchiest roll and write I've encountered.

    Efka, how did you not ask the most pertinent question about this game? The question that goes to the very heart of the matter. The reason why you didn't like this game as much as you did? Why is the rubber not shaped like a Dinosaur?

    I played this last week and, although I enjoyed it, I did realise that I'd lost around turn 2. I twigged that, in turn 1, I hadn't contributed towards both of the available 10 point visitors available to me, so my opponents always were that one step ahead to completing them. Because you can only draw one Dino pen and one facility each turn, I couldn't catch up. Scores in our game were around 100 points, so 20 points is massive.

  • @NoPunIncluded

    And now, imagine that everyone is on top of their objectives. The game is then hidden in the margins, and those margins are tiny and obfuscated. Hardly feels like an interesting competition.

  • @evergreen_monster
    @evergreen_monster5 жыл бұрын

    Simultaneous actions + Open information + Public first-come-first-served objectives is a recipe for disaster. After one game I was so ready to houserule how objectives are scored or even how the game is played (secret drawing). Kinda like Tiny Epic Quest, this feels like a wasted opportunity (to me).

    looks cool but yea if points are mainly from first come first serve cards then that's iffy. seems like a good variant might be play a certain # of rolls and everyone can try for all the cards [they don't get taken by only one completer] wonder how you like Imperial settlers roll write? i've heard some negative things about it lol

    I was next to NPI when they were trying this out one of the nights of UKGE I was going to come over and say hi to tell them how much I love their reviews. Buuuutttt Efka never came up for air!!!! So I can imagine how hard this review was for him after trying to get to knitty gritty of the game. Don't worry I got to meet them the next day and asked him all about it.

    Love NPi reviews... but apart from liking Gloomhaven, I have not agreed on any of the dozens and dozens of reviews I seen from NPI. I like seeing other opinions and like how NPI at least explains why they dislike something, even find it entertaining in the way they highlight these points... yet every time I push play I expect a great review telling me not to get a game, or I end up arguing with the screen about a review I disagree with.

    DarkChrisHour So accurate. I have only seen one or two games they actually like being reviewed out of the tons I have watched. Seems also that some of their reasons between videos are kinda contradictory as well where not enough choices is bad but too many is bad as well kinda way.

    Oh, it is also a slang term for a condom in the UK too, hence so much tittering from adolescent school boys in lessons when anybody asks for the rubber. However, once you are out of high school almost no-one chuckles any more because people just refer to condoms as condoms and erasers as rubbers (unless you are being extra careful to avoid titters from juvenile men). 'Johnny' is another slang term for condom, AND 'Rubber Johnny', which is actually where the slang 'Rubber' and 'Johnny' come from :).
