I didn't like Weiss much in the beginning, but this season really made strides with her character. Seeing how she didn't cry after her father slapped her and composed herself enough to keep talking back to him honestly made her a favorite of mine now.

It's not really surprising her brother sides with her dad. Their mom is basically a shell of who she used to be, winter left, weiss left. A kid is going to cling to the one family member that's still there. Even their mom says he only clung to him because the girls left and she wasn't able to be there for him.

At 3:18, Whitley looked surprised and scared about what he overheard. I think he didn't want this to happen and when Jacque opened the door and looked at Whitley, he changes his face to avoid being treated the same way as Weiss. That's probably why he's manipulating Weiss for this, he's neutral not evil like Jacque. It's my personal opinion about Whitley.

"Time to wake up and face reality..." WTF? This practically means that according to him, Weiss was just roleplaying, making things up, being a Hunter or a Huntress is just a game, etc... And I'm very sure he knows that Weiss summoned the boartusk on accident. He just looked for a reason to tighten his grip on her, then another to remove her birthright to lead the company. Both times, Weiss accidently played to his hands. As for the slap: he knows its the truth, but truth ofter hurts and he puts on the upset parent act "How dare you talk like that?". Simply shameful.

I think after he slapped Weiss, he probably went to Klein and ordered him to get him some pudding.

My guess? She probably removed herself to go train as a huntress and then work for Ironwood. This world needs people to keep the gears turning. Wining and Dining wont do that.

I felt sorry for Weiss after what happened there. That man had no right to be horrible to her. He had no right to do that. Weiss did nothing wrong and she did what she thought was right.

I don't understand why people don't like Weiss in the first few volumes. She is absolutely amazing and honestly a great embodiment of a child who 'values' her families wishes over and name over themselves. It's trauma.

I love Weiss since vol 1! Weiss is such a mood with her attitude since vol 1. I love her sass and even if she lashes out sometimes, she apologizes and acknowledges it when she knows she's in the wrong. I love it how she's proud of her family name but despises how her father had done with it's reputation. This volume just buried the nail for all Weiss stans, because it shows just hiw far she'd come.

I love her moment of breaking down and crying but then almost immediately went into fight mode. Love it

I have a theory that Weiss's weapon (can't spell it for my life) is from her nana schnee (as mentioned in rwby chibi) because why not

Nothing wrong with him. His sister abandoned him, and shows no care whatsoever. If anything, he's probably glad to stick it to her.

I think it's likely that Jaque did the exact same thing to Winter when she joined the Military and passed her portion of the legacy on to Weiss, only to now have them both passed to Whitley. I wouldn't be surprised if Whitley ends up getting killed later in the series, leaving no real heir to the Shnee family name. I would be equally unsurprised if Jaque found himself in the ass end of a Council meeting that ended with his forceful dismissal, thus solidifying his running the name into the ground.

Jacques is terrible father but a great business men. Having a good reputation for the family is having a good reputation for the business. Weiss for the better was dragging the company aka family through the mud. And let's be honest there is a time and place to rebellious and there is a time to play by the rules. Weiss would have sent the company into bankruptcy because she assumes everything black and white and throws a tantrum whenever things don't go her way. We know Weiss treated everyone except winter like crap who to say she didn't treat Whitely the same. Especially since Weiss was a very cocky and pretentious person to begin . It hard being the youngest especially from a abusive household . Whitely shouldn't be labeled as evil just because he took the opportunity Weiss laid out for him . Then on top of without any real evidence she blames him for orchestrating this in the first place

Considering where the series is now for V5 (tho the signs are obvious from the start, if you look at this scene calmly), looking back to V4 at Whitley's "lash out" to Weiss, his level of calmness and/or soft-spokenness is debatable at best. His "anger" isn't "Mwhaha, now /I/ am the Schnee Heir!"; if anything, it's him having a moment of personal spite at Weiss (and, in extension, Winter) because those two have always been a sort of linked-groupie in the Schnee Family. Whitley was left out, Whitley has ALWAYS been the one to be left out. Winter & Weiss have been growing on their own whilst having happy moments together when they can, Schnee Mom barely focused on her kids with all the drinking that slipped into her life, and Jacques only focusing on him (in "good" light) now because BOTH the girls have left his grips of control.

Wow, I was rewatching this scene just for the Weiss and Jaques confrontation but I just noticed that there's some subtle body language that hint at Whitley being more than just being a sleazy little asswipe. Definitely some breif flashes of...concern? Or something. I never paid any attention to him and wrote him off as a one-dimensional dick of a little brother but just noticing those little details that I missed before has me rethinking his whole chatacter.

I threw my hat on the ground as hard as I could when Weiss' dad slapped her, my friend was taken aback at my vehemence (I'm generally a rather passive person). I had a traumatic childhood, my parents are abusive, so while this scene would've made me angry, I became absolutely furious for personal reasons.
