Weirdest Town in UK - Glastonbury 🏴
Glastonbury is a town in southwest England. It's known for its ancient and medieval sites, many rich in myth. Glastonbury Tor is a tower-topped hill linked to Arthurian legend, overlooking the marshy Somerset Levels. Once said to be King Arthur’s burial place, Glastonbury Abbey is a ruined monastery dating to the 7th century. Nearby, centuries-old Glastonbury Tribunal has a museum with Iron Age artefacts.

Having lived in Glastonbury for 12 years it's other towns I find weird. They've all got the same shops!

Glastonbury has all the same shops too! There are about a dozen shops that just sell utterly useless shit like incense, potions, crystals, and tie-dyed clothing. The whole town stinks of incense. It’s just overkill.

@@malpreece5008 Yes, but that's called character, you either like it or you don't. When a town has all the same shops as every other town (i.e. Greggs, W.H.Smith, Boots and all the rest) that's lack of character!

Weird that the High Street doesn't have empty shops like in so many English towns.
We went there on a protest march a couple of years ago. Funny smelling smoke, patchouli oil, tie die clothes, hare krishna, shamen, it's nuts. My wife, now in her 70s, a 60s hippie chick, wandered round all day with the biggest smile I've seen on her in a long time.

Brilliant comment I absolutely love Glastonbury and the people ✌️✌🏾✌🏻☮️☮️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️
'Weirdest'? Yes I suppose many people who come are not used to its vibe. I have been going to Glastonbury for maybe 20 years on and off. It holds many memories both beautiful and sad. It's like no other town I've ever been to in many respects. I could happily live there.

I sold the big issue in glasto good fun that was in the 90s
Having been raised in Glastonbury I can imagine to an outsider that it looks weird. I mean it is, but as a resident you become immune to it and just think it's normal. People are friendly, it is quirky. It's gradually become more and more leftfield over the years. In the 80s there was far more for residents in terms of 'useful' town centre shops rather than the endless junk shops selling oddites which I'm sure is a draw for tourism. It had a Woolworths once, a variety of banking, shoe shops etc. Great for tourists these days, but for residents, less so. There are some very interesting shops though and very colourful but other than GiGis (which I love) and an Indian, there's not much in the way of good restaurants.
I first went there about 10 years ago and fell in love with the place! I haven't been in a couple of years, nice to see its still doing well.
So amazing ❤
Best place! I love it and it's where my heart and soul dwell...👍😄

So want to visit here someday!
First visited in 1986... wonderful place!
It’s not weird! You’d see a lot more Glastonbury’s if Christianity hasn’t influenced most Brits. It’s a town of lore, witch-craft, pagans and all other manner of people live in peace and harmony. It’s my home from home

Best town in the UK!
A couple of months ago I decided to have a look at it on Google maps, this vid is that come to life! Ta muchly 👍 I now realllly want to go there, just to wander along the high street and spend too much £, but I'm surprised there is only 1 coach directly there from London (there seems to be lots with lots of stops and changes, and then a bus from somewhere, maybe I looked in the wrong place?). It reminds me a bit of Rochester High St, which has a slightly hippy vibe😊 (the last time I went there, at least). I wouldn't describe it as weird, it speaks to my mad-old-hippy heart!

No judgement from narrow minded people and the ability to openly practise this countries original faiths without demonisation . This is a big part of what Glastonbury offers to the people who live there. You may be who you are or who you wish to be and people will just accept you . Individuality is applauded and valued. Many people ‘give’ to strangers . Many are drawn by the tors energy and feel that they ‘must’ live there. It is a magical place . There are many reasons but I think that these are predominant .
What a dark, lost place. Full of black magic and witchcraft, messing with demons and the occult. The people of Glastonbury are lost. I visited this place when I was 11 years old and I could feel the darkness and oppression of it.

Erm , I’m afraid that that is rubbish spread by past media. Witchcraft revers/worships ‘ nature’ the universe etc.. nothing evil in that, as do the druids and other pagan religions . There are good and bad ‘people’ in all religions - there are warped people who - damage the original meanings and abuse position . Like the pedo criminal priests of Christianity. So I really hope that you don’t continue to believe what you have written . Look into the teachings and you will see.

Why weird? I live here, it's a happy place.
Visited recently having wanting to go for years. Really disappointed. Enjoyed The Tor and views but just felt the town was ‘gimmicky’. Basically selling same old manufactured crap you can buy any where. And playing on the ‘magic’ (plastic cheap looking faeries and door wreaths). What I expected - a town with heritage crafts and individual art / craftsmanship Wouldn’t go again nor recommend. Truly saddened expecting so much more.
I was there last week , unfortunately I was working on the new papa John's next to Oxfam , the locals were not happy and were calling us the devil's workers...sorry just doing my job .., nice to see all the independent businesses , but it was a bookies before papa John's now , so don't see the issue

Glastonbury is awesome, there are Grannies handing out vaccine information.
Omg just been there, I so want to get my face tattooed, change into my hand knitted trousers, smoke copious amounts of weed, sit in doorways convinced that I am a elf from mother nature herself, become a gender fluid vegan, walk up and down the town chanting drug influenced quotations from Harry Potter Its speaks volumes when shops have a sign on the entrance 'no shoes no service'
