WEIRDEST RUSSIAN PRODUCTS YOU MUST TRY 🤤 (My favorites in Russian supermarket)

Agent Nesty at your service! ❤️ Today we are in the Russian grocery store - Auchan. I want to show you some products that I really love - tvorog, meat jelly, zefir and other Russian food which you simply must try at least once in your life. The most interesting thing is that these products may seem very strange to you, but for Russians, they are quite ordinary daily items. And they are delicious! (At least for me 🙂‍↕️)

There are baranki and sushki in Italy too ( it is called Tarallo), I am Brazilian with Italian descendants, we have Italian bakeries in Brazil too whose sell them. I am lucky enough to have been to Russia once, in 2012 (I stayed there for 3 months), and I ate this, it is exactly the same as the Italian version, same taste. In Italy (and Brazil) we also have this tasty "vegetables caviar", they have Italian names like Caponata (the eggplant one with peppers, my favorite).I tried some of this good stuff in Russia! I love the candies. I miss Russia, love it there! I need so much to go there again and try more things and see more places, but it is too expensive. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!

Ask for a tea in the UK and you'll get English tea which is hot with milk and maybe also sugar. We have a lot of varieties of tea but all of them are usually served hot. Iced tea is available, but isn't a huge favourite. Tea with lemon (but no milk) is also quite popular. It might seem strange, but hot tea even in very hot weather is quite refreshing.

That's not exactly what Nesty meant. She was looking for a more general term, equivalent to the Russian "колбаса" (kolbasa). You see, we have different names for sausages depending on their size. When Russians say "sausages", we actually imagine only small sausages, usually bought in packages or bunches, we call it "сосиски" if it is thin or "сардельки" if it is thick. On the other hand, "колбаса" is a single big and long sausage, and this refers to smoked sausages like salami, but also to huge boiled sausages. I don't think there is an exact equivalent in English to distinguish sausages by size alone. All three of these Russian words translate as "sausage".

The fact is that the YAMNAYA and ARYAN cultures use extensive amounts of dairy products as the cattle were the most important to them at times when crops did not grow. The Pennsylvania Dutch (Amish) make a meat and aspic (gelatin) food that is often used as a lunch meat in sandwiches, it's called Head Cheese. It's made from the head of a cow or pig. Despite the name the food contains no dairy. Usually the meat is cubed though, not shredded.

You ask us too many questions! I am American and never heard of coated cheese. We do have blood sausage but it is mostly in ethnic stores that cater to immigrant families. BTW- it is difficult to answer such questions because almost every kind of food is available in America but that isn't the same as food commonly eaten in America. Unlike Russia, most Americans do not all eat the same sorts of traditional foods. Most Americans are descendants of immigrants and share some of the food traditions from the country their families came from. For example, my mom was first generation Polish, so my grandma served all sorts of traditional Polish dishes to us. While most of my friends never heard of them. My wife's family was German and the same is true for her. Some of these foods have been widely accepted such as Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Mexican etc. but even then, most of these are adapted to American tastes. They are often not the same as one would find in the country of origin. So, yes, we have things like Borscht but they vary quite a bit. We have a lot of very similar foods but they may be more Hungarian, Polish, Ukrainian and Russian depending on the area the stores are serving.
