Weird quirks on the 2018 Indian Scout Bobber

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The 2018 Indian Scout Bobber is a fantastic motorcycle, but for some reason, it has a few quirks. Not bad quirks, but just.. quirks.
Exhaust: Trask slip-ons
Also, this is the first time I tried 4K and a new microphone. Camera lost focus, but will get that situated the next go round.

    All the Scouts and Victory Octanes run hot due to the lean factory tune. One way to make it run a bit cooler is with a richer tune.

    Good video brother! The pegs have feelers on them, the reason that they aren't retractable is so when your riding hot in corners the last thing you need is your peg retracting in mid corner possibly losing your footing on the peg. As for the stand, it certainly is a good safety feature not being able to start the bike without retracting it. However and I'm 150 years old and never had a issue, my feeling is you should have a mental check list or focused enough to remember the stand. As for the heat my Vrod did the same thing! Indian may make a heat deflector to help out. Again great video brother! Ride hard or stay home😎

  • @BrandonBicasso

    @BrandonBicasso

    6 жыл бұрын

    Absolutely, Jim. The peg feelers is just me nitpicking. It's one of those things I've seen people fiddle with before at stop lights. Never had to deal with it until now and it had me thinking... why?! But yeah, it's a mental note now. I don't even think about it anymore so I swing my foot either farther out or back to put it on the peg to not have the issue.

  • @SmallSpoonBrigade

    @SmallSpoonBrigade

    It is good to have that list, but things happen. The lack of a kickstand sensor is a poor decision. The kickstand sensor isn't just about helping when you forget to put it up, it's also about preventing the bike from riding away without you if, for some reason, the bike shifts into gear while you're starting it up. Theoretically, that shouldn't happen, but if you've got a messed up tranny, or you accidentally knock the shift lever you really don't want to have your bike riding away without you and possibly causing a lot of damage. I always leave my kickstand down when I warm the bike up because I'd rather deal with killing the engine if I shift rather than it riding away unexpectedly.

    The heat problem while sitting at a light is very noticeable. I have a Victory Octane (basically the same bike as a Scout). This is the first video where I've heard anybody else mention it. For me, the heat is only an issue on the right side of the bike where the pipes are. You will scald your upper, inner thigh if wearing shorts. I mentioned this to a dealer and they said they never heard of this issue before. I am glad that someone else has noticed this problem. To reduce this problem, I am thinking about adding some wraps on the pipes but I don't know how effective that will be. As was said in the video, while moving, it is not a problem. My previous bike was a Victory Hammer and I never had the head problem with it.

    I think it's strange how you're experiencing that much heat sitting. I have a scout sixty and sitting at a light it CAN reach 200+ but the fan kicks in then, so it's not that bad; in any case I've never thought it was too hot. Maybe it's a bobber issue?

    On my 2006 carburettor T100 Triumph Bonneville, the pegs always spring down flat. The bike will cut out and not start with the side stand down. You have a brand new motorcycle and have neither. Both are major safety issues. You need to address that. Plus I never have any heat issues with the engine. Saying that...what a beautiful bike, always love the Indian brand. Great videos too, man

    It was hot but a lot of people don't think about the engine being exposed bringing heat. Just because of the liquid cooling, that doesn't mean it won't cook you at a stop light. It was bearable with jeans on but it gets noticeably warm at a stop light. And I've only owned liquid cooled bikes. Could've just been that day, but more noticeable on hot summer days. Fantastic for winter months 😂

    Not sure where the cats are on this bike, but if you removed them with the pipe change and it's still really hot, you may want to consider a fuel controller to richen it up at slow/cruising speeds. Stock maps are usually rich enough WFO. Lean mixes run hotter. I think the footpeg design is stolen from a Sportster. I have Sportster highway pegs and they are the same way. Keep the pins well lubed. That lack of a kickstand kill switch is a holdover from Victories. It'll retract just after it slams into the ground and scares the piss outta ya. Sounds good!

    Interesting, does that apply if you also have the clutch in? Because it should allow that on the off chance that you stall in traffic. It can be annoying to have to shift it into neutral in order to get it started again. I don't have the problem often, but there've been a couple times when I stalled the engine of my Ninja and got it running again without stopping first. Which is very hard to do if you've got to shift into neutral to start the engine.

    I haven't seen a stock side stand without a kill switch in quite a while. You think they'd at least mount the pegs so they fall back if they were going to go springless. Floor boards are great for road bikes like that. No shoes hitting the pavement or getting windlifted, you can move legs around on long rides and lift off the saddle without pulling on the bar. Nice backing track, but in this context it's distracting from your content in my opinion. Ride safe.

    Exactly! Just seems like an after thought. Also, thanks for the feedback. I always welcome it. However, when you say "backing track", what does that mean?

    The music. It's a little intrusive at that volume, to me anyway. Nobody else said so, just me I guess.

    Ah! I gotcha. I try to blend it with my voice, but sometimes I'm off. I had a new microphone on and even had issues with the camera not holding focus. Learned a lot from this one including your comment about the audio. Thanks for letting me know!
