Certainly, it was a big deal back then. The amalgamation of Cannon and Thorn EMI with Canal +. MGM also took some Thorn EMI titles with a separate deal. If I can remember now, Dreamchild, Wild Geese 2, and the much maligned Morons from Outerspace all headed over to MGM, whilst in Britain, Warner's set up the Weintraub deal. I think Warner Home Video distributed some early Weintraub titles before the Parkfield Group got involved. Those had the Weintraub sleeve band at the top, then later, when Parkfield started distrubuting for Warner, Parkfield moved the Weintraub sleeve band to the bottom of the retail sleeve. It wasn't until 1989 that Weintraub used the logo without the sleeve band and decided to put the logo as a singular logo on the top right side of the sleeve. Warner/Parkfield also re-issued a number of popular Weintraub/Warner titles on retail like Legend, The Hitcher and Razorback etc.... By the early 1990s, when parkfield went into liquidation, Braveworld distributed later half of what was left of the Weintraub catalogue. Then Studio Canal cut a deal with Weintraub and sold the British Lion, Ealing, EMI and Anglomalgamated etc... companies to the French entertainment giant. Studio Canal have the largest film and TV library in Europe.

As a child 🚸 I had the Warner Home Video/Weintraub edition of Santa Claus the Movie 🎥 VHS 📼 video tape. I also noticed that the Santa Claus film was also released by Cannon Video just like the film Clockwise as well.

The Halloween 3 one caught me off guard, mine doesn’t have the red text on the spine and there are 3 pictures on the back too plus the cover is slightly different. Shame you don’t like Santa Clause the Movie anymore, I can take or leave the actual day itself but that film is spot on the money for me I’d even go as far to say one of the best of the 80’s.
