I put my slippers in the washing machine regularly - they come out great!

Since retiring 18 months ago I don't go out much. I go food shopping and go for a look around the town once a week. Recently I've been going for a walk around a local park twice a week to get some exercise and fresh air. I think it's doing some good for my mental health.

I don’t like going out now. Shops closing, staff don’t seem knowledgeable, only a very few amount of staff available these days, plus I end up buying stuff I don’t need because I am depressed going round the shops that are open!!!! Roll on the summer, when you can just stroll round the park. Just one of the things that happens to me WHEN I do go out. I bought some linen trs from H & M the other day, I decided to iron them as they were creased. I saw that the seem had frayed and came undone. I took them back and showed the young assistant what had happened and she said, didn’t you notice that when you bought them? Me being me said, if I had do you think I would have bought them!!!🤨🤦‍♀️Something like this every time I go out😳. I might go and live in the outer Hebrides 😂😂😂😂🙏🏻🥰

I feel the same about the news,I would rather live in ignorant bliss as you said,than worry everyday about the goings on in the world.This happened as I hit the menopause,my mental health took a nose dive and watching the news made it even worse.I am now on HRT,feeling much better,but I still don't watch the news or read newspapers as it is doom and gloom on every page.

Hi Caroline, My vote would be to keep the chunky necklace. I love it. As we know, these things come in and out of style according to the fashion gurus but I feel if you love it, wear it!

I had been depressed since childhood and I decided enough was enough. My journey to non depression was very varied and I gathered lots of information and advice. One good piece of advice was to stop reading or watching the news. Impossible to do anything about most of it and it feeds depression. No miserable films, no miserable books and no news. It worked and after 5 years I was okay. I’ve never gone back to news watching! My doctors are way better than that! They have a system where you go to another surgery, whichever is soonest. Last time I waited 10 days!

I haven't watched the news since 2020,,, fear,depression and doom isn't productive to anyone. Instead I pray and live in the hope and mercy of Lord Jesus ❤ live the pink dress .

My husband consumes news all day ,reading and watching when back from work . I cannot stand it. Waiting for bowel Surgery and lost my dad last May and I just can’t stand more bad news . I feel we can’t do anything to change what’s going on so ignorance is bliss . I get you on feeling a tad ignorant in current affairs though it’s a conundrum. Love the pink dress x

I am a total news junkie. My morning newspaper is delivered daily, it my absolute treat. I listen to lots of political podcasts, the ones I would recommend are: Electoral Dysfunction with Beth Rigby, The News Agents with Emily Maitlis and Newscast with Chris Mason. It is very easy to dip and out of these podcasts.

I don’t watch any TV News stations any more, I find them too biased, & I haven’t bought a Newspaper for Years. I get any News I WANT to listen to from News Podcasts, but quite honestly, I find it all so depressing now that I’d rather not know. What’s that beginning of a book - ‘It was the worst of times, It was the Best of times’. That’s how I feel these days.

The only time I listen to the news is on the radio. I find social media like Facebook posts a lot of fake news or over exaggerates. Afternoon Caroline, i rarely watch the news so depressing i do listen to local news,i put my slippers in the washing machine it does freshen them up on 30 deg, its good to have a sort out off jewellery .Take care♥️

Another one to add to the list.... I too like the pink dress and thought it really suited you. I have a few pairs of slippers and I leave them to soak in the bath overnight and then a quick wizz in the washing machine. Jewellery. I've mentioned before that I am decluttering. A big box was recently sent to Vintage Cas Cow. Lots of jewellery went. My thought behind it, was once it's gone, I might not even remember what it was or miss it in a month's time. LOL. (Kept photo's though, just in case I don't get the price I want. 😅) I open my free standing wardrobe and on the inside of each door there are hooks for all my remaining necklaces. Earrings are colour coded in a tray. Enjoy the rest of your week. 😊

Hi Caroline, loved those 2 dresses, it's a shame you couldn't hem up the purple multi one, as you looked lovely in it. I started avoiding the news a few years back, then became less interested in having something in my home telling me what to think etc, I got rid of my TV and have never looked back ! I love these weekly vlogs. I am the same with news stories. I get so distressed by bad news stories that I watch none anymore. I only pick up the news from discussions in the office break room. All my news is second hand and I am ok with that. I am a bit of an ostrich. I love seeing bits with your mom and Ashley. I enjoyed the last video where you were away for a little trip. I enjoy seeing the areas where you are travelling. It is all enjoyable.

Interesting thoughts on the news . I realised we were taking it for granted and in some ways desensitising ourselves to the horror . I do need an idea as I volunteer on a Listening line 💚. Hi Caroline I limit myself to tuning into the news just once a day. This is for all the reasons you mentioned. I also buy the perfumed bin liners from Home Bargains and although they look flimsy really are strong enough to hold a full 50 litre load. With regards to the necklace, I sort of retire clothes and jewellery and then bring them out again in time and enjoy wearing items again. Everything comes back in fashion. Looking forward to the bathroom reveal x

You can wash your slippers and trainers in the machine wrapped in a pillow case or they will rattle very loudly then dry over the radiators..👍

Doctors appointments are the same here in the US - and we pay!! I called in January to make an appointment for my annual check up and was told my doctor was booking into September (!!!) but if I would see the Physician's Assistant, I could have an appointment in April! As for slippers - I put mine in the washing machine - seems to work just fine. I get a summary of the news every morning in my email from The New York Times - not the most unbiased, but it does catch me up on the important news of the day. I have the BBC app and if anything important happens, it pops up on my phone. Here in the US the election, which is not until November, seems to dominate, and world news is far behind, so I rely on the BBC for that.Of the two dresses, I much prefer the second one - it is very flattering and just needs to be shortened. I think your arms are very nice and showing them gives good body balance. The first one was very transparent when you turned around.

Caroline i am around your age and get very dry lips. I found o'keefes lip repair in Asda. Only needs appling once a day for great hydration. Or Boots and Superdrug do it. around £4 but well worth the price.

Regarding Simple products. I decided to change my skincare as recently I keep fetting breakouts. Teenage acne at 77? 😂 Anyway I drcided on Simple. What a disappointment. Didn't want to pass it on, so put it in the bin. Recommendations anyone for aged skin would be appreciated. I have never liked chunky jewellery, even when it was 'in.' Lovely long vlog today. What we really need is John Craven's Newsround if anyone remembers that - news headlines delivered (for kids) with the nasty bits kept to a minimum! If I have one criticism of Roman it's that they produce rather too many sleeveless pieces. Given their general target age group I don't think it does them any favours. I put my slippers in the washing machine from time to time - more due to bits of food dropped onto them whilst cooking than anything else - my feet are always cold so I never wear them without socks!

Funny you should mention the news thing-that’s exactly how I feel since Lockdown and the same thing happened to me with friends too! Interested to find out if you get podcast recommendations. We went to Rick Steins Sandbanks this February. Lovely resturant. But was very disappointed with no “village” feel to sandbanks. Surprised that there wasnt a central area of shops Your brother looks so much like your dad x

Yes, Sandbank is very much just an ‘area’ rather than a town or village. I never quite understand how it’s become so sought after, although lovely sea and harbour views obviously. When I was a kid it was just another bit of inhabited coastline, though nice, nothing elite about it

Beautiful pink dress

I, like you, rarely watch the news anymore. I glance at the BBC headlines on my phone and only read articles of interest. The advancement of communications means we are aware of all the goings on in the distant corners of the world which we have little if any control over. In days gone by news would have been by word of mouth and extremely local. The pros and cons of living in modern society!

Hi Caroline, just a suggestion, try spraying some rubbing alcohol into your slippers from time to time, the bacteria is whats causing the odour so the alcohol will kill it. Great in trainers as well.

Dont throw out your jewellery, fashions come back in cycles. I have given jewellery away in the past and wish i hadnt. I have seen a chevalier mirror which opens up and has hanging racks for hewellery and shelves for skincare make up etc on the otherside. It saves chains from tangling and also an earrings rack so you dont lose earrings, i love home bargains, i was in there yesterday, as i have just moved, things needed replacing such as cutlery sets. Isnt it surprising teaspoons always disappear. I too got the wooden nail brushes. I cannot pass the sweet aisle. It had retro sweets such as ruffle bars and torpedoes and midget gems. Have you tried the w7 make up. The foundation is supposed to be a dupe for estee lauder double wear, i didnt get it this time, the blusher set and the eyeshadow palette are nice. I really only went in for a few th8ngs and ended up filling the trolley with replacements . I always get the coffee in sachets in a box as you only need to use hot water as everything is in the sachets. I look forwards to your videos a bit of me time first thing in the morning with a cup of coffee.

Thank you Caroline. Great video as always. What kind of hand cream are you using? It always puzzles me when people use scented handcreams and then wonder why their hands are dry. Same thing with flavoured lip balms. Even the brands that claim to be natural will often have drying chemicals and alcohol in them. Best one for dryness is a dermatological type, with absolutely no perfume at all. All of the others trick people into thinking they are moisturizers when in fact they do nothing but dry the skin more, causing the consumer to use more and thus buy more. Clever marketing ploy. Stick to the likes of Cetaphil if you really want to moisturize.
