Yeah, you started reading Louis L'amour on a high note and you still have plenty of books to read but they're not all going to be the same standard as your first reads. Which I'm sure you realize that. Thanks for the shout outs. I enjoy your channel and keep doing what you're doing! -James

Thanks James, you are lore than welcome. And yes, I think L’amour wrote enough that there will be plenty of other hidden gems.

You got through a lot of good books this week! Looking forward to seeing what you think about the last Matthew Scudder book. I just picked up my first Scudder book and am excited to start it! I just wrapped up It by Stephen King. I really enjoyed the entire book! I thought that the ending was maybe a little unnecessary? I don't know if that's the right word but I didn't feel like everything was wrapped up the way I would have liked. Overall a 4/5 for me though.

Awesome you are trying out Scudder…IT is definitely a good read, and King is notorious for some botched endings. 4/5 is right in that good range. Very cool to hear others’ take on good books. I hope you enjoy Scudder! Will let you know this week how book 17 fairs!

I can't do a weekly wrap video. I would say, "I read one book and posted one video!" Hahahah. Okay, as my wife says, I'm being silly now. -James

Here's a question pertaining to reading at the high speed and volume of books. (following this brief story!) In Jan, I decided to make more of an effort to have a structured reading plan. I was reading 3 books at a time, one being a classic, one being nonfiction (often memoir), and one being contemporary fiction. I had reached 60ish books by the end of March & was pleased with my progress. Then the weather turned nice & I got busy with yard etc & reading went south. BUT the point of all that is my memory of details from the books is really lousy. Are you finding this to be the case? Are you able to recall plots etc from the books? Does it even matter? Just curious!

Great question. I never thought Audible would be my thing. I had auditory learning issues as a child and didn’t recall things well unless I could visually see things. But when I tried Audible as an adult, I was amazed and wish I would have sooner. With that being said, I do read no more than 2-3 books at one time. Perfect world, I have one Audible book and one physical book. If I am reading thriller style books, and depending on the voice narration, I usually listen at 1.5-1.7 speed. If it’s a fantasy book, more like 1.2-1.4 and I just prefer to have the physical books on most of the fantasy genre. As far as recall, I think I do fairly well in the short term. But as you described we both consume a lot of books, so after several months it seems to me the details will fade, the over-arching plots and pivotal characters/ scenes stick with me. I personally don’t mind this. Maybe you disagree, but I like to balance rereads and new reads, especially rereading good books and series.

@@kevintowle9665 I often listen to booktube "sped up" but usually do audiobooks at regular speed. I definitely do a lot of rereading, more than I should probably, given the fact that I am not likely to have time to finish all my books during my lifetime. At any rate, thanks for always replying & giving well thought out answers. I think that is part of what is growing your channel. Have a good week.

@musicroom7185 thank you, and I agree, sadly we will all never get to all the books we want. I certainly take that into consideration when planning. Thank you for commenting and asking great and meaningful questions. You enjoy your week as well!
