I was fortunate enough to never really have to budget but now retired, it's become more of a game for me :) I read an article a couple of years ago about how much Americans spend on groceries, and I thought, no way do I spend that, I was right, I was spending more! I get so excited when I come home and show my receipt to me husband. At first, he made fun of me but now he's totally onboard too! He went to Sams today to get paper towels and Kleenex and grabbed a three-pack of salsa on markdown!

Sounds exactly like us. I never used to look at markdowns, although I did check the sales regularly. Now that we’re retired, I get a big kick out of finding the markdowns. My husband recently had a stroke and goes to neuro therapy 2-3 hours a day x 3 times a week. Our closest Kroger affiliate is only a few minutes away from the therapy place, so I’ve been able to go there much more often. Enjoying finding the markdowns and shopping when the store isn’t crowded. I get a second jolt of excitement when I pull an item from the freezer to cook and see the big red markdown sticker on some of the items! 👏🏻

I love how you get to enjoy the deals a second time when using meat from the freezer! 🥰 I am glad you are able to find time to shop markdowns more. I pray your husband's therapy continues to help him improve, too!

The best deals this week for me is on Amazon. Stocking up on snacking things. The 36 count variety box of Motts applesauce is 8.40. Thats the subscribe and save price. The heinz grill pack of ketchup, relish and mustard is 5.08. Also subscribe and save. My favorite is a non food item. The tide simply and clean sensitive 117 oz that's 89 loads is 25.22 for 4 of them. Yes 4. That's 6 something a piece. Also subscribe and save. Love getting a great deal. Hate to pay full price. Have you noticed about two weeks of the month a store has good sales and the rest of the month it is just a couple of items on sale at a good price. About six months now we have seen this.

These pancakes will be for reunion time, when we are in a lodge with access to a full Kitchen. We typically do this - with family and friends - and take turns preparing meals. We don't camp. Mainly stay with friends or family, or "camp" at a Holiday Inn Express occasionally! 😁
