If you like lights and music, you'll have fun building this LED Color Organ. You plug your music into it, and the circuit divides the sound into high, mid, and low frequencies and then flashes 3 different colors of LEDs according to those frequencies. This project is super fun and really easy to build.

If you do as he says in the video, your circuit will work, trust me. I tried and it works perfectly. I didn't change anything. At the end, don't forget to put the volume at maximum, it is important that you do it if not, the LEDs will not light up.

i just completed the amp stage, high stage and mid stage using the diagram listed above and follow the vocal out line, however i have changed the 1k to a 1.5k resistor. Works great so far with no complaints! don't follow the advise listed below. It's wrong. start in the first and second part of the diagram, then build the mid and low end if your a beginner. like i am. you'll love this project. btw get a branch for speakers otherwise you only see flashing lights no music off your cell phone. nice little project of 10 bucks.

Everything in the schematics is right. We had to modify two points: (1) in the section with the red LEDs, take out the 2.2k resistor connected to the capacitor and move the jumper directly to the capacitor. (2) Also in the section with the red LEDs replace the 2N3906 with a 2N3904 transistor.

You can also add another aux port on the same row as the previous one if you dont have split aux cable this allows you to speakers or head phones without it !

You will need a common anode RGB LED strip and a 12 volt power supply. You will need to remove the six LEDs and their resistors from the circuit and get either a P-channel MOSFET with pullup resistors, or use a PNP power transistors and wire them in place of the LED pairs you removed. Remember to use a pullup resistor for the MOSFETs, or base resistors for the power transistors.

Just a few questions. I'm planning on building this for my home theater system hooked up to a receiver. 1: is there a way to connect this between my receiver and my speakers? 2 I'm looking to use 5M led light strip for each color. Could you help me by making a video on how to do it with the strips on a breadboard but still be responsive to the music? Hope you can help. Thanks

The schematic in the video has different transistors than in the PDF. In the PDF, it says Q1 is supposed to be a 2N2222A, in the video it's 2N3904. In the PDF, Q2-4 are 2N2907A, and in the video it's 2N3906. Are these equivalent?

just a few things need to be modified. for certain breadboard, we need to use jumpers on the leftmost and the rightmost panel in the middle because certain breadboard is not connected. secondly, u need to use an amplifier because the power from your phone is insufficient, or you can use a laptop or pc. btw fun project.

I would stay away from relays as they have a slow response and have contact bounce. Moreover, the transients might damage your Christmas lights. I would instead use TRIACs which give a "cleaner" switch and can respond faster.
