Weekend in my Life as a Grad Student | Struggling with Paper Revisions & Studying for Comps
Hello friends! I'm Sarah, I'm a second year PhD student in Religious Studies, and this is another vlog documenting the ups and downs on being a grad student! As per usual I didn't get around to editing it until a month after I filmed it... but hope you enjoy anyways! It's been a busy past few months, as I've been studying for the second part of my comprehensive exams and working on a couple papers for publication.
You'll witness some of my struggles with studying and writing in this vlog, as well as some anthropological ramblings about the Western-centric nature of the academy and some of my own work.

I really found it interesting when you talked about intellectual imperialism. I grew up Catholic (now an agnostic) and even though I'm exploring other ways of being spiritual from a more non-theist perspective, I still sometimes feel imprisoned in ways of thinking that have really just been deeply conditioned in me. I feel like I have a similar struggle in trying to go beyond that familiar framework. I appreciate hearing you work through your own thinking on these different topics, and look forward to hearing about new ideas you encounter. :)

It’s generally really difficult to move beyond the ways of thinking we’ve been conditioned by or brought up with, so it’s really great that you’ve been able to not only recognize some of the limitations of strict religious teachings, but also that you have been able to get beyond that. Thanks so much for sharing this, and I’m glad that this discussion resonates!

I go to AA you got all walks of life. Atheist agnostics... Christians Muslims Buddhist the list goes on and on. I believe in Jesus.... Not necessarily organized religion.. I have a hard time believing that there is no higher power that "no one created everything from nothing "
