Weekend at the Greenbrier -1948
In the long and illustrious history of The Greenbrier 1948 was a pivotal year. This newsreel documents the reemergence of what was even then one of America's most historic resorts after its use as a World War II Army hospital. Stunningly redecorated by the famed New York interior decorator Dorothy Draper, the hotel reopened to a grand party that April which was the topic of conversation in high society circles for years to come. With this party The Greenbrier was back in the center of American social life and this film captures a special moment in the resort's legendary narrative.

Best place in WV - my first exposure to the work of Dorothy Draper. Celebrated my Mom's 90th birthday there with sisters and brothers.
Fondest memory of flying in on his private airplane and us enjoying the Greenbrier- the fabulous restaurants, gambling (we won too 😊) and the wonderful shopping with my Mr. McKinney.
I have loved this wonderful resort for a long time. I am eagerly looking forward to my next visit.

@@PhillyDomSideDude at check out my dad paid $1000. at the desk. Ca.1965. I am sure there were additional costs plus taking the C&O from Toledo.
My family’s experience was outstanding. First with our two sons in 1988 and again with our son Hunter and his family during a Thanksgiving Holiday. The Christmas Decorations, Suites and Service outstanding. A magical weekend in many ways… Auburn beat Alabama!!! War Eagle🦅🦅🦅

Just the congress. There were numerous other "bunkers" to house various other parts of the government.

Same thing with supfer springs Arkansas. I live in an underground mine by the railroad. With a massive undocumented quarry.

THEY NEVER SHOWED THE POWER ARMOR STATIONS OR CRAFTING AREA THAT ARE HERE IN WHITE SPRINGS? THE ROBOTS AND SECURITY FOLKS WERE GREAT .
