NAPPING WITH KITTENS (00:02)
Tikka Marsala, Picatta, and Francese are at the age where they can now jump onto anything in the apartment now - my bed, kitchen counter, window, couch, office desk, and more. This means that when they go crazy playing, no place is off limits. Luckily, this is also the sign that the kittens are ready to go up for adoption soon. Shelter is currently too full for spay/neuter surgeries, so I've been told they have to stay here until the July calendar opens up. Between June 1- June 21, they received 809 animal surrenders in across all four facilities in NYC.
MORNING PLAYTIME (01:37)
The most active time for the kittens is somewhere between 7AM to 11AM, and then they pass out for the rest of the afternoon until about 4PM when they go crazy again. Francese is particuarly fond of Copper, grooming him when he is eating his bone and sleeping very close to him during the day. He is also quite gentle with her, making it fun to watch them interact with each other.
FLAT IRON STEAK DINNER (0:2:39)
Lately, I've been eating less simple carbs such as pasta, rice, and bread to get more energy during the summertime. I'd always get sleepy eating too much of either one, and have shifted to only eating meats, veggies, and fruit. I only eat out maybe 2-3 times per month, the rest of the time I just cook at home since it's easier to control what I eat and prefer to invest that money for the future.
NYC HEATWAVE (05:16)
This past weekend, it was also 90F/32C+ for three days in a row. It's incredibly difficult for dogs as they are basically wearing a winter jacket and going out in the heat. Copper and I did some small walks under the scaffolding that provided some shade, but after 5-10 mins he was panting and sluggish so we came home pretty fast. Given he spent the first two years of his life in Puerto Rico, he is probably used to the heat to some extent - but either way, better safe than sorry!
