    I'm at week 12. I'm working on 2 leg calf raises. I'm nowhere near doing it on the bung foot. I'm also doing RoM and theraband exercises. And balancing. I've just graduated to driving my 4wd and doing local rides on my MTB. I've cut back on exercises because I felt I wasn't allowing enough time for recovery and tendon growth. Your videos help me to have practical goals. I have seen videos where people say it takes 3 years before they no longer feel any difference between the good and injured legs.

    Your videos are so helpful for my recovery! At week 19 and trying to get solid leg raises as they’re still quite weak at this point.

    Your videos have given me so much confidence. I was frustrated initially and like you am not a Gym Bunny. I'm 69 yrs old and working on the single calf raise--not quite there but feel so much better after 19 weeks after watching your progress. Its been tough and I still limp especially in work shoes so going to the gym twice a week, stationary bike for 30 mins with some load but looking forward to the single calf raise. I can push up with 2 and come down on the bad leg slowly with some support from holding on to something. Non surgical route was my only option--a wee way to go and looking forward to 6 months.

    I'm in week 19 as well, blessed to just be able to walk efficiently ! Still haven't gotten single calf raise but I have been doing 2 footed with fair ease and am close to single. Been doing sitting single calf raise with a 10lb dumbbell on my knee and it's been helping a lot !

    Thank you mate, you've been inspiring to the healing process to say the least. Also you seem like a really nice genuine person!

    Ya look good pal! Just wanted to say thanks again for indirectly being my mental saving grace! I am approaching mid week 9 and been walking barefoot and outside in shoes for 2 weeks... still abit tight but am walking with a minor limp, not very noticeable.

    Thanks for posting your videos. I'm at week 18 and had surgery to repair my achilles tendon. Its nice to see some comparison to how i'm healing and also what exercises you are doing. I would say I'm not quite as advanced as you but every week is improving and I hope to move on from my two footed calf raises to single next week. Thanks again.

    Thank you so much for your videos. I am at the three and a half week mark of a Achilles rupture and had an air cast boot fitted a couple of days ago. I am from the UK and while my doctor and everyone at the hospital are doing a great job, there is very little advice in terms of what to do in the time between hospital visits, other than don’t take the boot off and remove a wedge ( three ) every two weeks then come back. My doctor has recommended that I get off the crutches and go fully weight bearing as soon as possible ( on my last visit when I had the boot fitted he suggested that I should try and walk out of the hospital without crutches ! ) am slowly putting more weight on the injured leg and sitting with my foot on the ground and standing at the sink ext. I am taking the boot of for the first time today and will try some gentle ROM and the towel exercise. Being very careful of course. A question: have you any idea of how long on average it takes to return to driving ? My car is gear shift and my right foot ( the injured one ) is responsible for the gas pedal. Again, thanks very much for your videos, they are a great source of information and support. Ted

    Hi Ted, unfortunately I didn't have the driving issue because my injured leg does nothing during driving (i drive an auto). However I do think you wouldn't want to be using it until much later on considering a sudden break or movement could lead to a re-rupture if you don't have the boot on. It's probably best to ask your doc about this one. Good luck with the recovery!

    Hi.....I'm at week 19 after non surgical and have found your videos very informative and encouraging. I am a little older at 63, and due to a calf DVT complication at week 5, I am a few weeks behind regarding single calf raises. My big worry now is that I have some knee pain just below the patellar when walking....did you experience this at all? My passion is cycling, and I am now at the stage of using my bike on a turbo trainer as a static.

    I see you eased into golf at week 12 but at what point could you play as often and to your usual standard prior to your rupture? I'm at week 7 (surgery route) and I'm trying to gauge my return to golf

    Not yet. From my understanding you need to be able to hop on the leg first before being able to run. Hopefully not too far away

    @@SJachilles hi, i have been 5 and half months and still cant do a single calf raise on the injured leg , unless i have a little support from other leg. And i have pain in that area? Does it mean its grown to long? Thanks man..

  • @SJachilles

    @SJachilles

    I don't think that means you have grown too long. Average person takes 6 months to do a single calf raise which means many people take longer. Can you get the calf up at all? I found my major improvement occurred after i started using weights on the single calf raise and did less reps. 4 sets of 8.
