Yeah, I was really happy to have Mob shown as a character who actually is constantly struggling. He's not Saitama trying to find meaning in his life, but he's not Shonen-guy No.27 who wins and loses and trains and wins. Reading through the manga shows him in a very real challenge at the end of the arc, and I love it

Personally I don't think that Mob Psycho is that similar to OPM. Yeah, it's similar on the surface level, but it goes deeper than that. It's not "pretty much OPM."

My favorite parts of One Punch Man weren't the great action and hilarious punchlines (heh), they were Saitama's opinions and unique perspectives on his life and the people around him. Mob Psycho 100 seems to have a much greater emphasis on those kinds of unique perspectives, so I actually like it more than One Punch Man. Fucking great show.

but... but... I really like how jojo looks... the crasy color palett over the normal scenery fits the theme perfectly, normal life with ominus unsettling stuff in the background, much like the weird colors over normal suburban houses is unsettling.

already seen the show but even seeing the short clips from this video is giving me the chills, fucking gr8 show

Mob Psycho 100 and One Punch Man are so great because there stories about fighting where the fights are just the background. One Punch Man is more about Saitama being able to live with himself being so ridiculously strong and finding solace in friendship, something he didn't have at the start of the series but has found in the form of Genos and Silver Fang (and more in the manga) Mob Psycho 100 is about Mob's goal of not hurting anyone and trying to control his powers, the fights with the spirits aren't even necessary and are basically just filler for the truest glorious fights (spoilers ahead) for example, his amazing fight with Teru (is that his name? I can't remember) where he didn't use a single attack and it was about Mob fighting with his inner struggles of having psychic powers but forcing himself not to use them to act normal vs Teru, the manifestation of what Mob could have if he used his powers who has happy on the outside but was ultimately fragile and broken down by Mob

Re:Zero was so inconsistent that I considered it to be garbage, but that is just me. On the other hand, Mob Psycho 100 surprised me from episode 3 and beyond.

Mob Psycho came out in 2012 while OPM actually began in 2009. The manga version of OPM redrawn by Murata features references to MP100 because it came out around the same time as Mob Psycho.

I also think the comparisons he makes between the two works are too shallow to really support his argument about "Mob Psycho [being] basically OPM", especially when both series aim for completely different things and well, Mob isn't even invincible to begin with (episode 8 will probably come as a shocker for everyone who thought Mob was just Saitama with a wig).

i forced myself to see 11 episodes of re zero and and i still haven't gotten interested in the show. i saw one episode of mob psycho and was immediately hooked.

M0HAMED-Immortal Let's see... the ghost from the second episode is wiped out with a single swipe of Mob's hand, as well as the first and second ghosts from episode one. Even Gou was defeated in one attack. Mob has the same blank, emotionless base as Saitama (although granted, he CAN actually achieve emotions if pushed enough). The animation in both shows are among the greatest ever achieved. There's four things, including the example you admitted.

M0HAMED-Immortal I don't mean the style of his design, I mean the blank, emotionless base he's known for. Everyone else in the show/web comic shows at least some emotion, but Mob is emotionless to the point where other characters mention that even an otherwise really exciting story sounds incredibly boring being told by him. That's what I meant. Also, it's a similarity, so yeah, I personally feel it's completely fair to use it.

my dude you're watching his review this video is almost solely his opinions. if you dislike it, or if you don't want to hear an opinion, you're on the wrong video.

I love your content, but this video on Mob Psycho 100 is garbage. "It's pretty much Onepunch-Man" and "Character designs being strikingly similar" just takes away from the video so much. Its hard to talk about a series without mentioning the author's previous works, but its insulting to the original creator if all we do is comparing it to his first mainstream work. Mob Psycho 100 is its own unique story with its own themes and cast of characters. Onepunch-Man's themes are about the ethics of heroism and "celebritizing" heroes. As well as being a pastiche (It's not that much of a parody) of a typical Action manga. Onepunch-Man's gag was also very central to its story, although it takes a backseat as the world develops. Mob Psycho 100 doesn't start as a gag manga of any sorts, it immediately establishes itself as a coming of age story. It's a story about how much Middle School sucks, and what its like growing up as an introvert, bottling up your emotions, how hard it is to make friends and socialize. Although Mob is an extremely powerful esper, he isn't a god. He struggles in his fights. He ends up getting wounded badly. Saitama does not. Although Mob does always win the fight, he STRUGGLES to win. It's also natural for an artist to have his art style carry through in different works, lol. Thats why "it looks similar" it's just ONE's art style is much more distinct than others and thats why it stands out. I know my comment will probably get dislikes by fans of your channel, but as much as I love you as a personality and the content that you produce, this review was pretty piss poor. If this comment goes no where maybe I'll make a response video that explains my points better.

The colors in JoJo are used for the surrealist element. An article I read on it summed it up like: "that sense of an unknown terrible danger in your otherwise quiet and safe hometown full of comfortable regularness". The artist that draws JoJo's, Hirohiko Araki is known for doing art that resembles classical Italian paintings and greek statues, and he goes for surrealism in his coloring. It's also Shonen versus Horror in storytelling genre. It really is on the other end of the scale of contemporary manga/anime art from Mob Psycho.

Well, the moment he said mob psycho was like one punch man, I knew he had no idea what he was talking about. He clearly thought the protagonist was overpowered to the point where he could not be defeated, which is CERTAINLY NOT THE CASE. His understanding of mob is way too superficial and his flawed deduction of it can lead to many of his viewers having a misconception of the story. Mob at 100% is said to have WEAKER psychic powers than Tatsumaki from OPM by the creator as well. Please do more research and don't classify such a good anime as 'basically one punch man'. It's degrading for the anime and disrespectful to the creator

I agree 100%. Something that Mob Psycho 100 does differently, however, is more "serious" moments. Some of the best parts of OPM were, in my opinion, the parts where Saitama got serious, or where everything was super serious around him (looking at you episode 11 and 12) and he's just his usual goofy self. MP100 takes these moments and makes them even better by adding a lot of character development and backstory to Mob, and has them a fair bit more frequently. I love One Punch Man, and I'm so happy that ONE's work is still being made into anime. Nice video, Weegee.

I watched this video.. Then watched all 12 episodes of Mob (All in the same day) and have concluded that Mob's mentor is easily one of my top 5 characters of all time.

The ending is awesome.

Re:Zero gave me alot of mixed feelings at first, but I kept going and got emotionally invested in the characters. The start is really shitty because the plot devices are so over used, but the characters become amazing fleshed out. I hope they writer realizes this and does another series with a better introduction and plot devices.

Also, I love how ONE can take characters like Saitama and Mob, and make a genuinely good story.

I wouldn't call Mob INVINCIBLE, as the coming episode will show. They are very similar though. Mob's defining characteristic to differentiate from Saitama is that he'll do everything in his power to not solve things with violence, and is slowly learning there isn't much of a difference between people and the spirits he exorcises.

Episode 9 confirmed that Mob is in fact not invincible

I like the subtle dichotomy between Saitama and Mob: one is practically a god in physical terms, but dumb as a brick. The other has the stamina of a stick of butter but can blow shit up with his mind. The Wizard and the Warrior.

Nothing wrong with DP's strange choice of colour pallet in DiU, the colour versions of the manga at this point are known for using very out therecolour palettes. The palette swaps during the fight scenes look great too especially as the series has gone on. It also helps break it up from every other shounen that uses more muted colour palette, JoJo ain't afraid to drop in a splash of neon green
