Way I understand it, IC-0n is the original - possibly found, summoned or created? We know too little to say there. What we do know is that she has potentially full control over all matter and can splice it as she sees fit. The only thing that seems to be limiting her is a certain level of damage/corruption she has sustained at one point. From her, whatever organization Kirie's dad worked for created other specimens like the IC-52n we saw in a flashback and IC-313n from the end. It's likely that these are human/cube hybrids, as an attempt for humanity to harness/control the powers of the Origin Cube - which would explain why "313" appears *much* stronger than the older "52" assuming they're named in order of creation (with "0" as the original). In contrast to IC-0n, they also seem to default to human appearances and act much more human. The desk scribbles suggest that these are all identified as "strain alpha" and connected via a hive mind. IC-0n's corruption appears to cut her off from the link though, only allowing her to identify signals when others are active nearby, as seen in the diner before animu-guy revealed himself. Kirie herself seems to be the "strain beta", an accidental infection created in the incident we saw in part 2, which is not fully bonded and doesn't share the hive mind (the red X symbol over her head when active might mean "no signal"?). Similarly, there seems to be just enough of the cube's powers that she can somewhat control her own body and things she comes in contact with, only being roughly on the level of older models. However, the psychological damage that came along with it appears to have turned her into a force to be feared, singularly obsessed with eradicating the things responsible for her fate. My personal theory is that IC-0n was originally some sort of space god super computer that crashed on earth and experimented on. However, there was an accident at the facility, causing severe damage to the Origin Cube and infecting the visiting Kirie. The people in charge looked at the aftermath and said "whoa, this is extremely dangerous - but what if we could control it?!" and went on to create and over time improve the other variants. Kirie's mental state is unstable at best, so we can't fully trust what she says, especially when she calls IC-0n "satan" or even "the origin of all evil". This may just be her trauma talking, with her contact to parts of the Origin Cube being the cause for her suffering - driving her to escalate a conflict that could be tackled in a much better way or may not even exist if it wasn't for her aggressive actions. I hope Liam will someday have the ability to finish the story, because it is really intriguing. And while I have my theories, he is someone who never reveals his full hand immediately, so I'm sure he'll pull out the rug from under us again.

I think this is definitely one of the best sum-ups I've seen, as I could never piece up all the facts together like this. It also shows how Murder Drones probably did take some inspiration from this, with the "what if we can control it" trope.

mixing numbers and letters isn't just Japanese, it is very common. it is just the abbreviation of the sample, followed by its number, followed by its subsample. Hell, covid-19-o does this

I like IC nearly as much as I like Murder Drones. I really really want to see more episodes for it

I just noticed that Kirie's desk-scribble had the words "Disassemble, Disassemble" Might tie into Murder Drones and them being actually called "Disassembly Drones" Also, Kirie wrote "I trust you to ensure my net-zero annihilation" aka: I believe that you will keep me safe from harm.

Since I didn't see anyone else mention it yet I figured I would point out that you missed the bit where Max says that his bicycle starts sweating at high speeds. Love the reaction keep up the great work.

0:26 the funny part about it is that Liam isn't even close as right now he is at half of the goal.

It's the "Dorn of Door's", also in comedy when a whole wall gets blasted (to either make an entrance for a character or for lols) the door is usually always the only thing left due to viewers usually suspected/seen that as the easiest/first thing that should be destroyed. Sub-note wise where ever the "Joke focus" character is behind the wall is also left standing to say "Somehow they lived without noticing" with a greater comedic effect determined by level of character awareness to the batshitery about to go down, intent of the destruction causer & type/level/power/amount of attack used (Even more apparent in obvious comedy acts with it being a literal outline of the person, in more subtle comedy it's just a size-able "could fit them behind it" chunk or the afore mentioned door). Gets more wacky/dumb if someone still uses it as though it's still required to leave the room, which now has 1 less wall. Sorry if I got info wrong I was just raised on old 70-90's comedy movies (Naked Gun, Spaceballs, Hot Shots, Three Stooges, etc.) & noticed it's use for comedic effect.

people are pretty sure this is in the same universe as murder drones, since at the end of MDs Uzi had a cube symbol show up in her eye, which Iirc the same symbol either shows up in one of these animatics, or in the theme for Ic0n.

And Internecion Cube takes place in the 2030s, so Murder Drones could easily be anywhere between a few decades to a few hundred years later, when space travel and harvesting other planets has skyrocketed. (Pun Massively Intended)

Thanks for this reaction. The desk really does packs in a lot about her :) , I think the photos imply that she and Max were childhood friends and his is the only face that isn't glitched out to her. IC0n's egg might have been because, without a digital template, she had only her true nature.

I just realized something: IC-0n = Internection Cube - 0 (cause she's the original) but the "n" still got me puzzled

I only saw the original adaptation but ... noooooo? Hadn't the dad left long before the boys started alchemy? Either due to evil yandere or evil sort of son/warlock baby-patron. It's been a while. @@luckyflynt1646 It looked like the blood dripping from the ceiling pulled itself into a cube form, then reacted when it was interacted with. That whole situation did not look like things going according to plan, or at the very least not going according to the official plan. There was also a brief issue regarding getting her a badge. While I have little doubt that some pretty unethical human experimentation was being done, I don't think they were doing it on a researcher's daughter in the break room.

Blood is usually very distinctly red or reddish-brown in this series, whereas whatever is coming off of Kirie is pitch black.
