Awww, now they do look very natural and very loving the way they looked at each other during the vows. No huge, false smiles here. And I loved the bit when Sophie arrived and looked around and smiled at the crowds. She looked beautiful.

so the Prince who was laughed at a lot, over the years, had a smaller wedding less pomp, are still married (18 years)and have 2 lovely children, married to the love of his life and Sophie is probably the Queens favourite daughter in law, they are very close. well done Edward and Sophie

Now here is a solid gold couple!! She looked absolutely gorgeous!

Prince Edward married a lovely lady who is very well-liked and respected.

The Queen must love how classy they are and what an asset they are to the family.

It's been almost 20 years now and both have broven to be husband and wife of respect and integrity for them selfs and for their union. May they have many more happy and healthy years together.

What a beautiful marriage - solid and both of them after these years still look at each other with love . The Queen seems to love her dearly and now Sophie has been a rock to her Queen by being the PR for the Queen . What a treasure the Queen have in Sophie .

This is the first time that I have watched this Royal Wedding. I loved the couple’s beautiful curtsey and nod to the Monarch and the Queen’s lovely smile. The flower girls and ring bearer children were dressed the cutest I have ever seen.

Edward is the only one of the Queens children who married well and has lived a truly normal life.. Kudos for them.

They have matured into dutiful, classy adults who wisely dodge the media while still carrying out royal duties. The “out for blood” British media thought that they were too boring too.

She's so beautiful. A simple mariage but wonderful.

You can see the love that they have for each other. May God grant them a great life together.

Edward is the most handsome among his siblings. He is the one whose marriage is not a mess, and Sofie did not cause any grief to her in-laws.

There was an issue with her keeping her business after marriage and she had to close it There was also a controversy about a “topless” picture with a TV presenter here in the U.K. called Chris Tarrant(he was the host of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire here in the U.K.). Sophie was a bit of a party girl before she settled down with Edward. The story was in the press just before they married. Apart from that they have had no issues or scandals since.

Princess Anne and her husband aren't a 'mess'. They've been married 30 years.

The Queen looks genuinely pleased.

I am glad that I am looking back at this wedding. It is not the size of the wedding but the love that is in the hearts of those being wed. Sophie is very beautiful and dignified. Edward is an asset to the Royal Family as is his wife.

Their eyes never left each other as the spoke their vows💕💕💕 Lovely 🥰

They both have very pleasant personalities. He surprised me because he's seems very friendly and forthright.

I remember seeing this live. I'm glad that they are still going strong.

I watched the entire wedding in 1999 and have it on tape. I still enjoy watching it, this was my favourite Royal wedding.

I’m watching this for the first time. The service was exactly what I’d want for myself. My only complaint is that he vowed to keep her and she vowed to obey him. But everything else was quite lovely. Watching it now, knowing the marriage has lasted, made this a happy viewing experience. I also think Windsor Castle was the perfect place for a ceremony.

Prince Edward has always been my favourite, Sophie is beautiful, has grace and style but doesnt boast about it, their children are beautiful, they as a team are great they have a great bond

Love these twos, make a lovely couple, and you can see how much love they have for each other.

Lovely, lovely Sophie. What a credit to the RF she is. I know there was a lot of silly scandal around Prince Edward back in the day, but he and Sophie, I know, have made the Queen proud. I always admired her from the first. The Wessexes are a class act.

I saw their wedding (California time, the next day), She was such a beautiful bride, such a pretty smile, too. And can you see so much love for each other. I love that she has the Royal wave down right a! Lol

I was in St. George’s chapel the day after the wedding. I was visiting England from Canada, and we were in Windsor the day after the wedding and went through the Chapel.

I just re-watched part of Edward and Sophie's wedding. Twenty years and two children later and they are still going strong. I have read many times over the years that Sophie is the Queen's favorite daughter in law. I truly like Sophie and wish the press would give her more coverage for her charitable works.

Her dress has a cool medieval flare to it... 🤩

21 years in June 2020 and may they have many more happy years together! Edward "...and we happen to love each other!" Charles when engaged to Diana "...love, whatever that is!" (or words to that effect)! I'm so glad Edward and Sophie are still together - they are one of my favourite royal couples and I genuinely wish them many many more happy years of marriage! It's great to see more of them these days!

Did you see how she grinned when being asked if she would take Edward? Especially beautiful then.

Prince Edward and Sophie Countess of Wessex are a real asset and blessing to the Royal Family, the country and the Commonwealth. Edward was once laughed at and misunderstood but he decretly and lovingly made sure Sophie knew what becoming a member Royal family entailed. They both keep out of the media spotlight. Over two decades of marriage, there has been no hint of discord or scandal. It's wrong and unfitting to compare Sophie to Diana. Sophie is a beautiful accomplished women in her own right. You don't get to become the Queens favourite daughter in law by accident.

Apparently Edward designed it, and the matching earrings too. Her tiara is [I believe] made from Victorian pieces and recently underwent a re-design (if you Google pics of Sophie at the state dinner for Trump, you will get a look at it.)

A tabloid publication, so lacks credibility but both Paul Burrel and Andrew Morton reportedly recollect the story, plus a royal correspondent referred to it. Apparently when Diana first met Sophie, she interrogated her for almost half a hour, in a rather mean and snobby way. She wanted to meet her "replacement". According to Andrew Morton, Diana had told him that Sophie was a carbon copy of her and that the Monarchy were also grooming her, to replace her. I've tried to look for a verifiable source.
