My Husband is Military and we got married on a Friday afternoon (after we both worked all day) and then he left the following day to his duty station. We've been told a MANY times that our marriage isn't "real" because we didn't have the big ceremony. Those people are all now divorced (unfortunately) and we're not. It's not about the ceremony, it's about a union of two people in love :) save the money and have an awesome honeymoon!

My husband had just returned from deployment, we went to the court house, and got married. Seven years later, we're still happy and married. As long as you two are happy and did what you both want, then that is all that matters. People say the most rude things to others. Of course your marriage is real. I would think it is a little more real because you don't believe a dress = a real marriage, lol. My only regret is not having wedding cake. I mean, who doesn't want cake?

My husband and I eloped after 3 months of meeting. Best decision we've ever made. We got married at his great grandfather's house in Mount Washington with his grandmother as my maid of honor and his great aunt as his best woman. I wore a simple white dress my sister bought me for Christmas and he wore a blue suit with a light eggnog tie. On our way, we stopped at Rita Flora on La Brea for fresh cut flowers for my bouquet (I might have started a trend in '87...lol) After all the drama settled, my parents gave us the money for our wedding and we used it as a down payment on our first house. We are celebrating 28 yrs. of love on December 26. No kids just 4 beautiful rescue dogs. :-) Do you, boo! xo

Thank you. .me too. When the ambulance pulled up..I thought I had lost him. I haven't slept and makeup videos are keeping me from going insane. I just know I'm going to be the same way, just call people and say we did it. Every day for the rest of my life, that's all I want! sorry to be emotional, long long days here in the hospital. This is EXACTLY what John and I did--our small wedding kept getting so complicated, we decided at lunch on a Wednesday, to get married after church that Sunday--we didn't tell our parents (had a couple that we were really close to be out witnesses) until we were already on the road for a little honeymoon, and then we took out big original honeymoon a little while later--BEST thing we could have ever done! Me and my hubby got married at the courthouse..we put our money into the honeymoon and waited (bc at the time I was pregnant) so after my little one was old enough to leave with my mother...at the age of 2 (which they never really are old enough...I missed him terribly)..we went away for 3 days! It was all about US!!! It really should be about you two and the LOVE...if a big wedding makes you happy then do it, but you know who you love and nothing will change that (big or small..or courthouse/Justice of the Peace...hell even Vegas)You can always renew your vows or decifer a big receprion later :) I think the Universe is telling them something!!!! xoxo

I totally agree! I feel like so many people focus on the wedding DAY when a wedding isn't just about that day, it's an entire life with another person, and you don't choose to get married for the wedding day, you decide to get married to promise the rest of your life with another person.

How about Wellness Wednesday? I know you said before that you wanted to focus on your health and wellness in 2015, so why not commit yourself to something new each week? I'd love to see a different approach (re: not a video on "how to lose weight" like other youtubers do) and watch you test out products that you aren't already an expert on! You are a talented reviewer, it would be fun to see you branch out into new territory. PS- I skipped my wedding too and am happier for it!

My husband and I eloped. It was the absolute best thing we ever did. We were getting married to be married, not to play prince and princess for a day.

Trust me, Tati; $50,000 showcase weddings photograph nicely, but that's *all* that they accomplish. I have watched the first SATC movie waaay too many times and I love the way its just them two going to down to the city hall. Carrie marries Big in a label less dress and they have this awesome meal at a small diner with their near and dear ones. Thats exactly how two people should get together.. Keep it simple and intimate.. You can be happy and people who love you will be happy for you both on the biggest day of your life even without all that shabbang. Oh and all that money you save on your wedding, splurge on the honey moon you guys. God bless. Xx.

I've been married for nearly 16 years to my best friend , finally guys you see it ain't about the big day or the dress or accommodating friends & relatives , it's about you and your partner making a commitment to be there for each other no matter what , I think you guys know deep in your hearts that eloping is the thing for you and power to you , go for it , you can always have a big party when you get back for everyone , remember it's not the most important thing how you get married , it's more important to be happy and to make the choice together . My husband and i finally decided to just have a nice intimate ceremony with about 10 of our closes friends and family and a photographer. I regret nothing! It was perfect! I stressed for sooo long about a big wedding and trying to make it easy for everyone that i finally said screw it. The fact that all i had to worry about was my hair and makeup (which i did myself cuz im pretty darn good) was amazing! So stress free and beautiful. Tati, go to maui with james and just a handful of the closes people in your life and do one of those beautiful elopement packages!

Wicked Wednesday? Something like a guilty pleasure of the week, vampy or va-va-voom makeup/fashion, a totally selfish, on-a-whim purchase (a la "I should really save my money for [whatever], but I WANT this handbag, so I'm buying it NOW"), or turn the term "wicked" on its ear by doing some kind of "sneaky good" deed (example, paying for the order of the person behind you at Starbucks and leaving a note for them that says, "Love, The Wicked Witch of the West"). It's really all about stepping outside of that confined, selfless box we ladies tend to put ourselves into and doing whatever makes YOU feel good. In fact, I think I'm going to do this in my life. I already have a Don't Give a Flip Friday once or twice a month, simply because I give BIG flips in my job and home life the rest of the weeks of the month, so maybe this will help balance things even more. But I've gone on enough about Wednesdays. I'm truly happy for you and James, and I think eloping is a fantastic idea. As you said, if someone really wants the big wedding with the dress and the venue and the pictures, that's great! But those things are not required in order to live happily ever after. So, congrats to you both!!!

Tati my husband and I did the same thing and it was the best decision we could have made . With the money we save we really got to enjoy our marriage these past 4 years !!! ( yesterday was our anniversary ) I also felt that I didn't need a big wedding ! We have done road trips from Boston to Cali , went to Brazil , Canada , vegas etc and wouldn't have been able to if we did. Big wedding ! all my friends are having big weddings but the day i got married we literally just woke up one day and went to the court house. The only one there was his older brother who took pictures and we told everyone (parents, family, ect.) afterwards. I was kind of regretting not having a big wedding for a while (because you see it on tv and in magazines all the time) i was regretting it until I recently went to my brothers. wedding and they were so stressed out the whole time trying to make sure everything went right and was on time. there was no room for error and i don't do well under pressure like that. after we got out marriage license we went to IHOP and laughed and talked and held hands. marriage should be the way you and your love want it not about the expectations of others.

My husband and I had a small wedding only with family and our best friends, 35 people :) it was small and amazing. I don't need all that expensive stuff. Why start marriage with like no money left in your account lol you can spend that money on greater things and not spend it for only one day. Its even proven that marriages with a huuuuge wedding lead to problems cus the couples are so stressed out and have financial problems after. I don't wanna invite people that I haven't talked to in years lol (some people invite all their high school friends but they are not even that close with them anymore) it should be about the couple that gets married and not about pleasing hundreds of guests.

Why would people invite their old high school friends they don't even talk to anymore?! I couldn't imagine doing that, but I was honestly a loner. The funny thing for my husband and I is that we come from huge families. Honestly, my dad is one of seven kids and my father-in-law's side is massive. He has a sister with 9 kids! When we first got engaged, we had to have a serious talk of who would be invited. In the end, I only had an uncle who was insulted for not being invited, but no one likes him anyway lol. I definitely agree that weddings should be shared with the most important people in your life and it's about just them, not everyone else!

Yea my dad has 5 siblings, some couldn't come, most family members did and our beat friends :) all we needed

I am so happy! The wedding was making you so stressed and the wedding should be about you two, not everyone else. Elope, currently i am thinking about it too, weddings are expensive and so stressful and I am not about all of that.

Also I dont understand why it is called eloping. You are still getting married so why the name? It makes it should like it is a bad thing when it is not at all.

i eloped. best thing i ever did. so glad i didn't do big huge crazy wedding, imo weddings like that are never for the bride and groom they are for the friends and families. i wasn't having it. we went to maui and got married on the beach. best day of my life

I got married in a big wedding. It was so incredibly stressful that I had to start taking Ativan just to make it through. Then the temperature went from 45 degrees the day before the wedding to -55F. It was nearly a 100 degree drop in temperature overnight, and broke all records. (I got marred in Chicago the beginning of December). It ended up being a beautiful wedding, but it was mostly for my parents and their friends.

That is totally the way to do it. I wish you both the very best of the best x.

I also had a small wedding, like around 10-15 people. LOL. I do have a suggestion, Tati! Why not make it "Women Wednesdays" and talk about empowering and encouraging women, and real stuff. You are a good speaker and you inspire others, like me. So I think it would be great if you do that, have a specific topic and let your viewers ask questions, etc. Or maybe even just Wake-up Wednesdays and do some empowering talks or something!
