Wedding Filmmaking Behind The Scenes SOLO! | Sony a7R V Simple Wedding Video

Ғылым және технология

Is it possible to shoot an entire wedding film as a solo videographer? Can you capture key moments to cover the day as though you had two shooters or more? If you've been curious to learn more about filming weddings, especially as a solo shooter, then this video is for you!
In this tutorial, I'll walk through a full wedding day behind the scenes as a videographer. This includes everything: from bride and groom prep, establishing shots, the first look, ceremony, reception, dancing and much more. I'll show this process utilizing BTS footage captured by my DJI Action 2, along with final shots used in the film and commentary to explain the different parts of the day.
I'll cover all of the gear used throughout the wedding, including several shots with my Sony a7R V and 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II lens. You'll also get deeper insights into my strategies for composing shots, working with the photographer, and how to handle audio and lighting during crucial parts of the day. And because this is a real-world wedding, this video will also cover the various challenges that can occur such as light flicker, bad/harsh/low light, a changing and evolving schedule, and more.
Wedding BTS videos take a fair amount of time to put together, so if this video was of any help to you, feel free to leave a like and subscribe! Also, if you like behind the scenes videos and content around wedding filmmaking and photography and would like to see more, check out my existing videos in this description, and leave a comment on what you'd like to see.
Also, a big thank you to my friend Terry Myers and TME Wedding Services with whom I work with, and to the fantastic couple Jamie and Steven and the entire wedding party on their special day!

@@andrewsaraceni I’ve done photography for the last 9 years and I never had any interest in video until I switched from Nikon to Sony. I did a wedding this weekend and they didn’t had a videographer so I put the other A7RV on a tripod like you do with a 16-35 video is great I wish I would’ve done better audio but they knew I just wanted to get something for them. But now I have a bigger big about wanting to do even more video

Great video. As you shoot mainly in 4K 60. Do you edit and render in a 30p timeline? Or 24P? If 24p, when you are not slowing down the footage - does the 60p present a problem for smoothness on the 24p timeline?

Thanks! I edit weddings typically in a 24p timeline. No issues with smoothness, although the motion blur will be a little lost given the frame rate/shutter speed difference (for 60p, I'm always shooting 1/125 or above).

For gimbal work, do you still use active stabilization?

  • @andrewsaraceni

It depends - usually not if I'm doing just slow pans, tilts, etc. but for really active movement I'll still keep it on.
