After getting this engine sorted out I decided to make a run video even though the weather was not good. Zinger 11x5, OS F plug,

So glad it was just a simple timing issue for you. I'm sure it was a let down feeling at first. Your years of working with engines has really paid off and the tear down video was aces. Gorgeous engine, but then again Webra has produced some of the most advanced engines at times. thank you for posting this video.
Detective David at his best.
I have a Webra T4-80 that runs very well. I experimented with a spark ignition setup and it also runs very well on Trufuel for two stroke engines. I'm glad you solved the problem with your engine and got it to run great.✌
Man , David that engine really hits with some authority when it runs . Sounds great .
Im amazed with this engine. Beautiful! Nice job David
Smooth and sounds like a powerhouse! The rorary valve system sures makes for good 'breathing' of the engine apparently
Great job never heard one of those run before. Thanks
Great diagnosis and troubleshooting David! Was great to see it go from no start through to running great. I don’t think too many ppl would have the skills you have to troubleshoot such a problem. Was great to see your diagnostics skills at work!
Thanks David. That's a sweet engine!
Sweet David 🎉
Nice work, runs great!🙂
These engines are very good..i have 80 and 90 size..

Hi Blaž
A "tip" for reassembly & belt installation ~ Leave the Head bolts out, while sliding the belt onto the top pulley, it allows you some "play". Then install Head bolts & check the Timing. You may be correct thinking it was a previous owner, as I was lead to believe Webra, factory ran every engine , back in the day. Good to see it running 👍

Loose head bolts ineffective because the minimum distance for installing the belt is with the head fully seated. Plus it is easier to keep the timing with one less thing moving.
Sounds really healthy to be in the first stage of break in process, for sure the timing was way off because someone without experience messed it up, not from factory.
At last, it runs as it should and I also don't believe it was mis-timed from the factory. For a practically NiB engine, she ran pretty decently for sure.
👍👍💥💥
Good job Sir Ya the amount of oil leakage from running is what I am wondering how much is normal My pipe throws so much oil it coats the entire table it’s bolted to Is it supposed to shoot that much oil out the pipe Morgan fuel 15 percent 👍
Man that engine is stout
thats a really strong, 40, 4 stroke. wonder what power difference between that and a os,40,surpass?

Good question Harvey. The review articles stated that this was sort of a cross between 2 and 4 stroke engines as it can handle a wide variety of props and RPM ranges happily.
Just for giggles you may want to pull the muffler pressure line and see how it runs. I have an OS FS40 (first version) that runs roughly with pressure but runs like a sewing machine without pressure, just saying…

Yes I have had older OS and some Enya four strokes that came with only a header and no pressure feed and they run fine. Typically the manufacturer knows best and if a silencer comes with a pressure feed it is best to use it. I did pull it off and immediately it became much more erratic. So been there, done that many times.
