// My Story
I am currently a software developer who once modeled and thought I wanted to pursue a career in the fashion industry. While I was modeling in Hong Kong, I eventually felt the desire to further my education. I decided to depart the modeling world and move back to Canada, knowing that could be the end of my modeling opportunities. I attended Ryerson University for GCM (Graphic Communications Management), as I thought I might still work in the fashion industry in another capacity. It was in my last year of university, I was introduced to a very basic coding course. I instantly fell in love. From there I knew I wanted to pursue software development but didn't have a clue where to start. I didn't want to go back to university as I just completed a four-year degree. I decided to enroll in a 10-week intensive coding Bootcamp. From there I started working at a small startup learning and growing my technical and soft skills. I then transitioned to a larger company where I am a software developer and technical consultant today.

Learning web development sets you up perfectly for mobile development because you already have essential developer skills like using a code editor, the command line, GitHub etc. Web development is also more challenging as you normally work with multiple coding languages. With mobile development, you're only using one programming language. I do both web and mobile, so I recommend you start off with web then take on mobile development later. You'll be better off than a non-programmer who just tries to jump into building apps right away. Besides, most mobile apps uses databases and web services, so your knowledge as a web developer will only make it easier. Stay strong!

For web dev did u learn front end or both front end and backend
iOS developer here. I agree that whichever platform you prefer and are therefore motivated to learn is the one you should choose. My sense is that absolute number of Web jobs available is bigger than the number of mobile jobs available, likely because more companies need websites than need mobile apps. But there are _plenty_ of mobile jobs, so I wouldn’t use that as a factor.

Another point towards web. Compliance. While large enterprises are not “sexy” … they are the easiest to find stable consistent job stability. If that matters … web is critical as every organization over a certain size has to have a federally ADA compliant web presence. If you skip that - you risk removing this massive opportunity from prospects.
Good call on focusing on your interest. Then you'll be inspired to be better at it, which makes you more in demand, anyway.
I will start training in web development as well as mobile development (Android + IOS) because I want to learn how to create mobile applications. I hope it won't be too difficult and that I'll get there!
Suuuuuper helpful and inspiring, thank you! I just started learning Front End, and was wondering if I should switch to Mobile, so your vid helped answer a lot of questions, and helped me clarify my path. Subscribed!

I’m a totally beginner in this field, learning a lot from u, so thanks so mush keep it plz😁 I wanna know which KZread channel should I learn web developing from?
Mmm... I'm leaning more towards hybrid app dev as mobile browsers are becoming more powerful giving you access to device hardware which was mostly only available through wrapper frameworks or going native. Nice thing then is that you could then also cater for both desktop/web version (okay limited device integration) and having a mobile friendly version giving the end user a seamless experience...
What if you want to develop for both, websites and mobile apps ?
Passion and drive can make you learn and master anything. People under estimate their abilities to discover their highest potential. Its not about what is easier. But what skills will challenge me the most and give me the maximum chance to grow.
That was really my concern Thank you for your help.
thanks for all you videos I really benefit a lot from you.
Thank you for this video, very helpful
Both with ionic/angular or flutter. I started with angular and directly ionic and soon flutter. But i originally started with c# in Unity (VR/XR) and learned Java basics at university

I'm going to start on mobile dev. I've wanted to start coding for a long time on this time I came up with a couple of good ideas and I know these were good because someone else created popular apps. Thank You Tiff! I found this information useful. I have tried a bit of web-dev but found it too much confusion ( I guess I struggled with finding out where to start ( as we have so many platforms to choose from ) and honestly at that time I lacked self-organization , follow-through ) . im learning html and css and thats hard enough let alone java but them plus python are the four main languages i want to know.
Oh.. I'm not alone. I have 2+ years of experience. I can do both of them, and I can do a desktop app written in Java. I still can't make a decision. Even that I feel like a newbie.
I am confused between flutter and native java language can someone explain the different
Web development is also niche, but its wider niche that even can include mobile development using JS for example. for me, as experienced developer, android development is easier, just because I hate forntend and JavaScript. I feel more comfortable developing with C++ (and JAVA) than JS, CSS, HTML.
omg i am just aboute start to learn codeing and my dilemma is exactly chooseing betvine two online bootcamp....mobile app dev 12 mont or full stack 6 mont...... i have no idea full stack sounds soo lot of things to learn seams too short 6 mont .. and if mobil dev is just learning two languages why is it so hard and double so long the bootcamp ? i thougt i chose mobil but after ur vid i am not sure anymore.... i have zero knowledge i am starting from sckrach :)
Personally, I found swift easier to learn having came from a C background (swift seems to share a lot of similarities with Objective C, and therefore, C) but your mileage may vary

Well either one is I great choice 👍 I choose web dev but I may learn mobile dev
I've been a web developer (Full-stack) for 10 years+ now, and if I were just starting my career, I would personally pick becoming an iOS dev today. I love web development, but there's so many technologies involved in web development, especially with a lot of available frameworks to choose from (JS frameworks, back-end frameworks, server upkeep, etc.) sometimes it's overwhelming, even for experienced devs. In the mobile dev world, in my opinion has a fewer tech to master. Apple's SDK for example has almost everything you need in one programming language (Swift). If you happen to pull 3rd party packages, it's far fewer compared to the web dev side.

To implement backend in a mobile app do you really need to know backend or just learning mobile development can do the job
@glennraya
Жыл бұрын
@@icetmzz9074 Yes you need to know some backend dev stuff, it's actually part of the entire "mobile development" term in my opinion. You can choose to just focus on front-end (UI/UX) where other people in your team can handle the back-end (databases/server requests) for you.
@glennraya

@@wm5000 In my opinion, app development (web/mobile) is not going anywhere. ChatGPT and other AI are still not capable of creating production-ready apps, you can utilize AI to find bugs, or help you write better code but still (at the moment) AI can't replace real humans to create production-ready, complex apps. Maybe in the far future, but not yet.
@Kethella

@GlennRaya this is exactly what I think. I feel SO overwhelmed by web development that I decided to focus on native android development, after hybrid mobile development and later I'll go to IOS native development. I also know web dev, but every semester there is something more to pick from web dev and a new project with a totally new "and better" technology that I'm overwhelmed. .

Uh, sure. It all depends on your persistence.
Pick web development, less stress (just don't pick too many frameworks lol). Far too many job openings for web dev than mobile dev.
If you're going to do mobile, and are trying to decide whether to learn iPhone or Android, remember this: Things change. However, both platforms are generally similar, and while it's not trivially easy, you can learn enough to be good at doing both. But as Tiff mentioned, practice makes perfect.

Web development is easy until you attempt to build responsive pages.
Web development is horrendous because of the absurd architecture, backward compatibility and raping of HTML, which was never intended for writing CRUD apps. Decades later new frameworks and languages are still mushrooming.
Don't wast your time in JavaScript Frameworks !
Over 2 minutes later, still nothing profitable.
iOS is so much easier and I feel like there’s a lot Leeds you have to learn
