Not to discount the actual, serious diagnosed medical condition. I do get where using the term as slang could be offensive to someone who actual has the condition.

Yes I was just about to comment this, Tamera and Adrienne both say they have/are OCD. It’s not an adjective, it’s a mental health condition, it can be extremely distressing and millions of people (including myself) struggle because it interferes with their daily life. What Tamera and Adrienne describe is them being fussy/particular... it’s not even comparable. Not hating just educating. ✌🏼🙂

DePiagetfan yes, but what they're describing is being called a neat freak. OCD is disorder, your commonly diagnosed with. And they struggle with everyday life it's not just about having things clean it's WAY more than that they can't complete actions because of it. And I'm not sure the girls understand that. By saying "I'm OCD I love a clean house at all times" tones the serious meaning because OCD is completely not about being clean.

I find it so interesting how marriage has been packaged to women as if it is the ultimate key to a womans happiness and yet the reality is when she is finally married majority of the time she is often burdened with the responsibility of maintaining the upkeep of the relationship inclduing doing all the chores (unless you geneuinely enjoy doing that - do you) I think women need to start demanding more (and refusing to settle for less) from men only then will they understand that they cant reap all the benefits of our labour.

etf42 the world is changing and women are now welcome in those dangerous environments to work. And also if a job is not inherently dangerous it doesn't mean it brings no value to society. So if both people are working 9-5 they can both keep up with the struggles of the household

It's really disheartening that Tamera, an actual psych major, says "I am OCD". I'm a psych major, too, and the first thing my professor told us when we were learning about different disorders, particularly OCD, was that people using them as adjectives downplayed how serious these disorders can really get. Just because you like things tidy doesn't mean you have obsessive-compulsive disorder. It spreads ignorance.

Thats how many fathers are unfortunately. There are studies that show men benefit from marriage more than women because of leaving the woman to do the chores and being primary care taker of the kids. No wonder women are more likely to initate divorce. Husbands need to oukk their weight and contribute instead of seeing their wives as their maids and personal sex toy.

  • @chautang3055

I don't care if a man is paying your bills, at least have him do some of the chores! Alternate chores if you can! If i were living with someone, I'd want them to do some chores too! Yes, I will be paying the bills, I have no problem with that but I can't do ALL of the chores! For example, I'll cook and clean the house, someone should wash the dishes then the next day, switch! It's not as hard! I feel like some people just don't have the motivation or just find it boring. I find chores boring but I would listen to music, podcasts or even watch television so I can have some background noise! Also, if you're listening to a thought provoking podcast, not only would you think about it but if you're doing the chores, you might get it done quickly!

My husband works 18 hr days and only gets weekends off. There is no way that Im taking the one day he gets to really rest away from him by making him do my job. But thats just me. Im a stay at home wife. If he is willing to work that hard for our family, I can keep up with the dishes, laundry and cleaning. Because thats my only job. So I think it depends on the situation. Thankfully we make sure the house is spotless on friday so we can cuddle and spend time together on the weekends.

For those who are trying to make a mountain out of a molehill. There are different levels of OCD. I think for Tam she might be referring to the need to have everything lined up symmetrically just ‘right’ is the compulsion, the obsessive fear might be to ensure everything feels ‘just right’ to prevent discomfort or sometimes to prevent harm occurring. It might not be severe but still there. Source: Psychology minor.

A person that won’t help around the house is a bum, whether they’re working or not 🤷🏻‍♀️ (Some people don’t want their partner cleaning & that’s cool too..) I believe whoever is living in the house should participate in its upkeep. Let’s be real here. Housework is hard, especially with kids around. It is an all-day seven days a week activity. Even if one person is the breadwinner, I guarantee you that they have nights and weekends to relax. The one staying at home is not guaranteed a break. Ever. When my kids were smaller, and I stayed home with them, I would have given my right kneecap for an hour break everyday. I eventually made my husband hire a maid. That person managed to stay busy 8 hours a day so you can’t tell me that housework isn’t a full time job. It is not fair that one partner will work 40 hours a week while the other is on call 24/7, and not even getting paid for it. When you’re at work , fine. But when you are at home, you should help out.

I feel like people just shouldn’t say, “I am OCD” “I am so ADD/ADHD” “I’m so bipolar” unless they’ve been diagnosed. Just because you clean a lot doesn’t mean you have OCD, you could just be a neat freak. Just because you can’t focus on doing your work doesn’t mean you have ADD/ADHD, you could just be distracted. ADHD is way more than just not being focused. Just because you’re moody doesn’t mean you are bipolar, you could just be human. There are many factors that come into play with each of these mental health disorders. If you think you have a mental health disorder, go see a doctor and get properly diagnosed.

So,that's my job.I have no problem helping out.what irritates me is my husband putting his dirty clothes on the floor of his closet, with the clean clothes. Or when I take the time to put things away, nice and neat, and next thing I know, the apartment is trashed.
