Basket weaver Vișovan Onisim from the Romanian village of Breb, Maramures, demonstrates the traditional craft of split hazel frame basket weaving with hazel ribbons from hazel rods. The hazel ribbons are woven into traditional frame baskets, half-round bottom frame baskets, and slat packs.

I have a Romanian friend here in Tasmania. I would love it if we all needed to re-learn some of these skills. We'd be so much healthier and USEFUL!
I've been coppicing hazel for the past few days so I know what I'm going to try and do tomorrow....
