Wear Your Weaving!
This is my first video in a series aimed at helping weavers turn their handwoven fabric into a garment that both fits and feels good to wear. This session is an introduction to some short videos that will break my processes down to manageable steps.
Happy Weaving!

I've sewn all my life, but I'm a novice weaver. Absolutely love this video, and can't wait to see more!
Thank you Sarah, I am so looking forward to your videos!
I really enjoyed your video. Over on Ravelry a moderator (Jeen) has created a thread, "WEAR YOUR WEAVING / SARAH HOWARD" in the Rigid Heddle Group. We are following along, watching your videos as you post them. There are many RH weavers who want to make clothing, your videos will be very helpful and inspirational.

Very interested in hearing and watching your tips! Thank you. 😊
This is exactly what i want to learn. Thank you so much for this!!
So glad you are doing these!
So happy you are doing this. Rigid heddle weavers need this. I have a few of your patterns and have the hand spun handwoven cloth ready for a jacket. I just need a little guidance.
O I’m excited to see the videos. I’ve been weaving for around 30 years and have never made clothing. But I’ve wanted to. So thank you for sharing your knowledge. Can’t wait
Love your video. Thank you.
It’s so wonderful that you are sharing your vast knowledge. I’m excited to use my weaving to make clothing. I love your designs and I’m looking forward to all your videos!
So excited to get some help
Thanks for sharing! I’m looking forward to your videos and learning new things! ❤
Sarah, you’ve just given me the push/encouragement I needed to get a largish rigid heddle loom on which to weave the woollen fabric for clothes I’ve been thinking about for years! Thank you for your accessible and enthusiastic videos! 😀
So glad a friend sent me your video, can't wait to start making my own clothing. Loving your work.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I have always wanted to make clothes from my weaving but have not been brave enough to try it. Bless you!
I have 2 of your patterns and am so glad you started a channel. I’m super excited 🎉to learn more.
Looking forward to your videos! interesting first one!
I LOVED your video! I hope you continue sharing you knowledge of weaving your own cloth for clothes. The jacket you are weaving is beautiful!!! Thank you!!
I am so excited for this series! I grew up learning how to sew and now that I've been weaving a few years, I'm eager to make fabric to sew clothing with! I also do some spinning, so spinning to weave and then sew it would be so much fun!
I’ve just watched your first video and thoroughly enjoyed it! Can’t wait to watch the rest. Thank you for sharing ❤❤❤
Wonderful intro video - looking forward to seeing more! Thank you
I am so delighted that you are making videos to compliment your patterns. I've had the pattern for the top in the background of your video for a couple of years but haven't been brave enough to get started on it tho! Hoping you will inspire and motivate me to get it made. Really looking forward to seeing more from you.
Love your first video! I have several of your patterns but haven’t been brave enough to actually give one a try yet. Looking forward to this series of videos. Thank you!
So great to see this video now. I started on the same loom 🙂and I love making things to wear, but I need to learn a lot of things. I will definitely follow your videos. Thank you soo much for making this video. Looking forward to your future videos.
I’m excited you’ll be making videos here! I’m a spinner, I dabble in weaving and I really want to learn to make my own clothing. I love your designs and I’m thrilled to watch your videos as I’ve found the whole idea daunting!
Thank you for sharing your passion!! I can't wait to start making clothing from my weaving!
I'm so excited you have a KZread channel! I have made two of your patterns so far, and I'm very pleased with how they turned out! My third pattern is the one that you are going to work on! I'm a new-ish sewist so reading sewing instructions is challenging for me. I look forward to having some videos to help me.
I've been following your FB posts with the intent of creating garments from my RH weaving sometime soon. Love seeing the video and look forward to seeing more!! Thank you!
I’m an absolute beginner, excited to learn from you ❤
I am looking forward to your videos. I’m a newer weaver but I want to make useful things as you do. Thank you for sharing
Just watched this lovely video on IG. Thanks again. I’m looking forward to them. Have a wonderful day
Loved the video and the jacket. Looking forward to your future videos. Making a jacket from my own woven fabric at present.
I am thrilled to find your channel and so looking forward to watching every video you create. I also spin and weave and would love to weave my own garments. I purchased a handwoven coat made in Norway many years ago and it has been the best coat I ever bought and inspired me to want to learn to weave. Please also include how you care for your handwoven clothing in a video. Love your jacket that you made!
How wonderful Sarah! Thank you for doing this ❤ Tracy (Australia)
So nice to see you. I have several of your patterns, which I love, and have completed a couple of garments. Your instructions are easy to follow, but it will be wonderful hear your advice and tips, especially for a muddling sewer like myself.
So happy to see that you started this channel! I’ve been following you on Instagram for a few years and have been interested with how you are making garments with your woven cloth… it will be fascinating to see and learn your process.
So looking forward to your videos, I have already picked up a few tips from this one. Love the jacket you are wearing, especially the collar, it sits so well.
Oh thank you so much for making these videos. I’m such a visual learner and since I have purchased several of your pattern I hope this will get me over my insecurities. Thank you again. 🥰
I am in the process of making a jacket right now. I didn't make enough fabric so...I am now attempting to weave some more. For once in my life I am not rushing a sewing project. You are my inspiration to keep at it.

Well done, take your time. And often a contrasting or extra piece of fabric makes an interesting feature 👍🌟
from Gerry- I am so happy that I found your channel. I am ready to weave and sew. I have the yarn and I must get started. You are the impetus I need to get going. Be blessed.
I have seen some of your designs on FB and they are fab. Looking forward to seeing what you're up to.
so looking forward to your series of videos thank you for sharing i have a couple of your wonderful patterns and made my first ever garment from handwoven cloth last year, im hoping to have the courage to use some of my handspun this year
Thank you! I have this loom and struggle to find videos and tutorials. I am now subscribed and look forward to learning from you.
Beautiful fabrics
Thank you!
I can’t wait!!!
I a, subscribed already and can’t wait to see some of your videos. I really fancy learning how to make clothes from weaving. My son would quite like a woollen tie so I thought it might be cool to make a tie from hand woven fabric for him
Looking forward to this, I have several of your patterns but have yet to take the plunge and do them
I’m really looking forward to this series! I have a 10” Sampleit and would like to get a 20 or 24” loom. I’d really prefer the 20” but worry that it isn’t wide enough to make anything. Sounds like it would be! Thank you for sharing your experience!
You are so cool women. Thank you for video. Many greatings from gemany.
Tlhis is so good of you! I have been weaving for a couple of years now, but I’m not much of a sewer. I would love to make a simple tunic. I have some silk hankies that I am spinning on a drop spindle and I’m planning on using that as weft with linen as warp. Have you woven with linen as both warp and weft? Also please consider doing one or two live Q&A sessions. Cheer!
Thank you ! Благодарю ВАс! Рада видеть ВАС!
enjoyed your first video
I made the tunic from the pattern you showed. It came out just as I wanted and I learned lots.

This video helped me get not only inspired, but also was very informative! I, myself, am Navajo and have been trying to figure out ways in which I can wear my weaves-and overall teaching myself how to sew. Thank you so much for this video! I love your energy ❤

Hi Charlotte, 👋 I'm looking forward to this. I'm doing it as if I'm talking to a group of friends, which really is what it feels like. It makes sense to share everything now, and much easier than driving miles to give a demonstration! Happy weaving 😊

Hey Nan 👵 🎉
You always make a mock up before cutting and sewing your handwoven fabric. Say you’ve made alterations to your mock-up, how do you transfer them to your pattern or fabric? Do you have a video on the process? Just checking. I’ve seen for years, but have never had to alter a pattern except for length.
@getweaving8459

I unpick the mock up if necessary, but with all the alterations marked in pen or pencil. Usually I just measure everything. I have a booklet Making a Mock Up which explains most of this, but I'll add it to my list of videos. Thanks for the suggestion 👍👏
Hi from south Australia. Where can I look at your patterns? Thanks

I see in your instagram posts that mailing to USA is not happening? Any idea when it will resume? I would love to try a pattern.

Hi Susan, I'm afraid nothing is clear at the moment, I've just written to our MP to ask for his help. I'm thinking I'll have to use a different carrier but they're all considerably more expensive for single items. I'm waiting until the end of this week then I'm going to make a decision 🤞🤞🙏

It's a 20in Ashford Knitters loom, you should be able to get it from an Ashford supplier(I don't know what country you're in). I weave most of the fabric for my clothes on it.
