There was a guy who had a gun pulled on him and his reaction was to laugh at it. When the man with the gun asked why he was laughing he said, "You can't shoot me with that gun." The man with the gun asked, "Why not?" and the man said, "The safety is on." The gunman looked and his target pulled his gun and shot him. It is unknown if the gunman's gun actually had the safety on or not. I liked when you said to know weapons.

That was a good technique, but that may not work on every case, the next guy might try that and say u can't shoot me with that gun, then the guy will be like ok watch 💥, but i def think a distraction helps.. like just saying everything u need is right there and as soon as they respond they are off there game then its either live or die fighting

These techniques require a lot of practice to pull off, especially in an uncontrolled situation. More than likely, the shooter's finger will be on the trigger. A single action versus double action changes the scenario. It is less likely that you will get out of the line of fire in time with a single action. You may have a chance with a double action weapon, but only if you are quick and know what you are doing. Grabbing the wrist with your hand requires precision. It is a small target. If you miss, you will need to get your body tight with the shooter's reduce their manuverability to regain a line of fire. Not matter what, it's a bad situation to be in, and it's a tough call to do something or not.

You don’t want to cross to the inside, you’ll end up grabbing the gun and getting pummeled with punches to your face, back of the head, your body then shot. You move to the outside immediately you have control of the weapon arm and the option to strike at vital areas while disarming & gaining the upper hand.

I like the way you handled this potential situation, but with the revolver scenario, what if the hammer was back with a round ready to be fired? If you grab the cylinder and the gun fires you could be looking at serious burns to that hand or worse. So I was wondering if there is a different way to go about a revolver disarm, or if that is just a risk you need to take in order to not get shot?

+Michael Errico Michael, there are many factors that determine a proper defensive response just as there are multiple disarming techniques. In the case of a revolver, not only are the burns a consideration but also the debris - that unburnt flying powder and the shaved copper/lead/steel that also gets put into your hand. If I have to choose between and injured hand and being shot, I'll take the injured hand. Unfortunately, in some situations, there's no time to consider other responses. These responses SHOULD be trained until they can become instinctive.

Thank you for the quick reply, I agree that an injury to the hand is better than being shot anyday. Do you think any type of glove one could wear on duty might help protect their hand in this situation?

These are techniques that I learned to actually have saved my life multiple times the best thing about the technique about getting out of the line of fire versus pushing the gun up and dropping her self down it’s just not realistic there’s 1 million different things that could happen I would definitely prefer getting out of line of fire trying to get that gun to me as closest possible ripping it out of their hands and either controlling them or eliminating threat turn my first words are lawyer

If someone tries to take you somewhere take his gun if you can. They aren't moving you to a better place for you they're moving you to a worse place for you and better for them so if you can take that gun away from him at that point you better.

@@NeilSeaver And you believe that is the norm? You found the one, brain-dead moron on the planet that believes a gun is a stabbing weapon that you need to get 2 inches away to use? And you also believe if that person had tried to disarm that guy, he wouldn't have gotten shot even faster? All because he saw some "expert" do it in a KZread video? Right... I hear that's how the police and military learn their techniques, from Master Ken on KZread.

Ok first and foremost 1. There is no time for this. 2. The chances you will remember it in a live situation is remote. 3. Their other hand isnt just going to sit there and do nothing. 4. If you are in this situation and have a gun pointed at you, if they were going to kill you you'd be dead. They are most likely using it so they can get something. 5. If you feel that you need to act by all means do it, no hesitation, fully committed, don't try to grab the wrist or any of that other baloney, grabthe gun and then go nuts, start punching with the other hand like your ass depends on it, bear down on them. But thats not the only way, the pont is get very aggressive very fast and overwhelm them. Remember always put yourself in Mr Nasties shoes, if you got a gun on someone and they grab it and try forvsome wrist lock disarm chances are you're going to resist and start using your other hand. However if they grab your gun and start throwing punches into your face, while pressing forward you're gonna have a lot more to think about. And hey maybe I'm wrong, nothing is 100% but if you feel your life is in danger do something.

Your technic is not make sense too, unless you do that with a real bullet inside the real unlock gun, can you? And the other guy should be a real criminal from the prison who many times attempted to escape. So we can know this technic works or not, because that is the real condition in a real life. Then it can make a sense way.
