I believe recent studies have revealed evidence of trolls with in the Lichfield area adding weight to the theory that the blades where melted by troll blood.
Great presentation. I think the interpretation is excellent. If the hoard is earlier 7th century then the hoard resulting from the battle of Maserfield would also fit. Maserfield and the Battle on the Trent were both Mercian victories over invading Northumbrian armies. The defeat of Oswald at Maserfield was more decisive and would better fit the view of burying the military symbols and the Christian symbols, since Penda was Pagan, as a symbolic gesture. While the Battle of the Trent ended Northumbrian influence south of the Humber, it took the effort of the church to stop the war continuing. Either battle fits the theory of the hoard make up.
really interesting to watch this first analysis after I had already watched more recent updates before this
an alternative view is the broken gold was a raid of a kings trophy room (thus all the antique swords as if there was a collection) after the king lost a major battle.
I def wish for my enemy’s to be driven from my damn face lol. Love the ancient shade.
The volume is a severe disappointment.
