Brits have always hated the Irish, always, and that is fact. Furthermore, Anne gave Ed more difficult questions. This game was just unfair and BS, to my eyes, Barry just voted for whoever was the strongest link or whoever he didn't like, very glad that dumbass Barry lost and Johnny won. Although, Nina and Dave got blindly voted off for no reason, still glad that Barry lost. (I felt bad for the people that actually tried to answer some questions, all I have to say, is that I hate Barry.)

Even though it's so silly, Barry's indignant reply and tone "I haven't got time to hoover, we're doing a show!" gets me every time 🤣🤣😂😂 10:25

They're all comedians. Not being serious is the whole idea behind having them on the show. Although, I suspect it was a rousing failure outside the UK. If you don't know British references, then it's hard to know what's funny outside general observations. Johnny was a major goofball and still won. Heavy accent though.

He's Northern of course, and I've found that they are funnier, more observant, street smart and offbeat than Southeners, but people think they are dumb because of their broad accent. Even with my Cheshire "well spoken" accent I'm still thought of as thick and an airhead by quite a few Southeners, doesn't matter about my degree, years as an artist and journalist, general knowledge, all the trimmings. Its his accent, that causes the perception, but I've never thought he was dumb, because I can see smart in his eyes, and his humour is weird.

Why did they keep saying pass? What show did they think they were on? Take a stab at it at least. I guessed Top of the pops and I'm not even British, I've never seen that show, but I've heard of it, and that was enough for me to get it right. Unless the question is "What p word indicates a footballer intentionally kicking the ball to a fellow player?" pass is not going to be the correct answer. :/

I'm sorry but some of you guys are sounding idiotic. You are under a LOT of pressure when playing the game, and the stress drains a considerable amount of cognitive energy. Why are you stressed? Because you know you are going to be watched and judged on television, because one single wrong answer can get you out of the game, and because you are under huge pressure to conserve time. Most of the questions on this show are long and contestants worry that they can lose their train of thought while listening to the question and might have to ask Anne to repeat the question. You are required to answer the question immediately, so almost all answers are reflexive. When your name is called out a large amount of adrenaline (which controls the fight or flight response) is released and your heart rate raises dramatically, and if you have no idea about which of the two options is correct your heart rate raises further, and the resulting stress severely compromises your working memory capacity, to the extent that you may not properly remember the options. In such moments, your body automatically chooses the "flight" response and you say "pass". When contestants say "pass" it is an instinctive response largely beyond their control. Altering your stress response is a long term process and cannot be done in a matter of seconds.

@@hotwax9376 For an American, "Top of the Pops" would likely be an instinctive response because that is the only British music he is likely to have heard about. However, for an English person in 2001, Top of the Pops was a very current show, and not a show you that you would think of when you hear "Which show started 1964..." A calm mind might have guessed that "Top of the Pops" could have started as early as 1964, but with enormous stress on your working memory, even the most intelligent people rely on crude heuristics (not saying that Helen was intelligent). Top of the Pops = Current and Popular = Not 1964. When they hear 1964 they think of "Old music shows" and shows that may come to mind are "The tube" or "The Hitman and Her" (which is what Helen was going for I think), although both started much after 1964. As I said in my post above, because you are expected to answer immediately, you don't have the time or cognitive resources to deliberate and make educated guesses as you could in Millionaire. As for Weimar Republic, goodness your school must have a very strong history education if you think that is a very easy question. I was a trivia champ in school who often represented my school and never heard of it. I first encountered the term a few years ago when I was reading the transcript of a Hitler speech. This is something that I would expect only the nerdiest of my students to know. I was a nerd in college and I never knew.

I came across this as in Russia we had one Weakest link with stand up comics recently- and the British one is sooo much funnier, although I do not know those people, they do make jokes which make one laugh. That's great, loved it!

@@deankirasic5232 I know, you might not believe me, but so many Russians are against war. 5000 protesters have been taken by police, independent media are banned and blocked, they slow down youtube and facebook. Yesterday they took away all newspapers that were issued with a call to stop war. It is prohibited even to call it a war. Now you can be imprisoned as a traitor for that. And they are lecturing in schools that Russia is protecting Russians against Ukrainian fascists. I live in Canada, so we do as much as we can fundraising for Ukrainians and spreading news to people in Russia, so that they know the real picture. All my heart is with the Ukrainian people.

@@Bobbythundervideogamemaster900 Because Brits hate the Irish, also Anne gave more difficult questions to Ed Byrnes, and d**khead Barry over there, voted for Ed until he got voted off completely. Barry genuinely deserved to get voted off at the first round, all he did was throw off the smartest people, I lost my mind when he got to top 2. I'm so glad Johnny won that, I was kinda routing for Rowland and Ed as well but as long as douchebag Barry didn't win, then I'm fine with it.
