We'll never hike to the upper lakes again. Yes, we did have a great day together, and yes we did make it to the top, but this hike wasn't fun.
This hike starts at the bottom of Steuart Road and it is 4.6 miles/7.4 km (an out and back) to get to the lake at Loch Lomond. You can drive to it, but a high-clearance vehicle is highly recommended. Also, the road is only open seasonal and parking is very limited. We were able to drive part of the way up the road before we had to park on the side.
Once you are at Loch Lomond, it is another 2.2 miles/3.5 km (an out and back) to the upper lakes. The upper lakes are very pretty, but considering what we had to go through to get to them, it wasn't really worth it. Although, it did create a good VLOG.
Our recommendation would be to check out St. Mary's Glacier instead or other hikes in the area.
