“The Paper” episode is one of the rare ones that’s shown on tv because it’s right next to the Valentine’s Day episode, which is exclusive to the holiday itself. So, you’d have to be lucky to catch that episode on tv. The other alternative would be a streaming service, like Paramount+.

Both as a kid when they first aired, and as a bigger kid when the reruns were on. So it's not like I wasn't watching for some period (besides when I grew out of kids cartoons)

I always watched the Valentine's Day episode on Valentine's Day on Amazon Prime.

He's right about that Captain Planet episode where a teen overdosed on drugs and dies onscreen. Heck, one of the planeteers accidentally gets addicted and tries to fight the others to keep the drugs because the withdrawal symptoms are horrible. But she can't use her powers anymore because she's now supporting pollution. "Mind" pollution.

There's also an episode in that same season (season 3) where they focus on a teenager who has AIDS. Looking back on it now that I'm an adult, I had no idea that Captain Planet's episodes focused on such intense issues. I guess Cartoon Network went back and kept those episodes from airing.

Holy shit, in the German dub during the carnival, when Patrick rips apart the mascot he has a totally different tone. He is pretty low and intense and just goes "Ich töte dich" which translates to exactly "I kill you." Never knew that was different in the American version, lol

Tom kenny was actually sick when he recorded the suds episode.

Suds is one of the few episodes I can say is undoubtedly canon. They specifically referenced it in a later season episode Whelk Attack. “After all, I’ve had the suds!” Consistent inconsistency. Suds is also one of the few episodes with Sandy, Patrick, AND Mr. Krabs, but no Squidward. And sure, toes are alright I guess. Mostly tomatoes. “A chocolate starfish.” Oh it’s the Great Mighty Poo all over again. “That’s like an engagement proposal.” There are a lot of people that say SpongeBob is definitely not straight. I think he’s ace, but just really sweet. Not sure who would win in a fight, heartbroken Patrick, or Ed (from Ed Edd n Eddy, not Full Metal Alchemist) with a pebble in his shoe. Squidward has a TV, he just uses it more often in later seasons. Also, Plankton has a WIFE. Not a TV, you misogynistic barnacle-heads (joking, obviously).

I think they canonized that the dates given for SB and Krabs’ births aren’t to be taken as their actual ages, especially since it’d mean SpongeBob started working a full time job at age 13.

I really appreciate the Valentines Day episode because it shows that platonic love is just as important as any other kind, which I think we don’t talk about enough on Valentine’s Day.

Happy to see this series still going. Would be cool if it continued all the way through the first movie.
