Oscars are a joke. The voters admit to never watching the animated movies so it’s just a popularity contest. Just being nominated is the real award. Sucks that the creator of this movie’s next project was cancelled by Netflix.

The little Saami girl, Margu, is actually speaking Saami. Some of her lines are pretty funny because she _absolutely_ can understand English, she just can't speak it. For instance, when Jesper starts saying 'I feel like such a... I behaved like a...' she finishes his sentence with '...a dummy head?'. The second time they meet, he happens to say something that sounds like an answer to her question, and she gets excited and says 'really? You'll help me get a toy?' And then responds with what is to her a non-sequitur, to which she says '...I don't think you understand me at all...' When she is running up the dock, she really is yelling "Jesper! Don't leave, Jesper!" You can find versions of her scenes with translated subtitles for her. You will NOT regret it... she'll be all the cuter to you if you do!

Simmons first time playing Klaus in fact he worked as a mall Santa when he was pursuing a career in acting - After they crash the sleigh you can see “A113” on a create as in the same Easter Egg in Pixar Movies - The Sami girl Margu is voiced by Neda Margrethe Labba did not speak any English so the director Sergio Pablos traveled all the way to Tormsø, Norway to where she lives to do her recording

Letting someone avoid the consequences of their actions isn't love or care, it's simply enabling a bad habit. The dad was quite harsh with his punishment, but it was something done out of genuine love for his son, and a want for him to grow into a better person than the pompous snob he was in the beginning.

He prefers live action but he does animation sometimes. Everyone in my family loves it, including my dad. We couldn't stop laughing at the humor. Our favorite character is the Mogens who tricked Jesper into ringing the bell. We've been watching it every year, we love the humor and how dark it can get.

I like that the family heads don't ever learn better, because some people just can't let go of hate, so you focus on others. In the end, the rest of the town is thriving harder than ever before, but their anger keeps them miserable. Heck, in the end, they are basically the only company for each other in their irrational clinging to traditions of hate.

I think it's wonderful that they used the Saami people as elves (indigenous people living in the northen parts of the Scandinavian countries), and that the island is Svalbard (Norway territory, but also considered the North Pole). In parts of Europa, but especially Scandinavia, the letters to Santa sent through the postal service goes to Finland, where Santa Clause lives with his elves, which are the Saami people.

From what I've researched, the Director Sergio Pablos, worked on disney films during the 90's as a character animator. Two of his more iconic characters are Frollo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1997) and Dr. Doppler from Treasure Planet (2002). In my eye, Jesper's design and silhouette reminds me of Doppler. His father makes me think of Frollo. This part here is conjecture on my part. He is also the voice of the Ellingboe daughter who only ever says "Mine."

This movie is incredible. The animation, the story, the music, the voice acting (seriously, Norm MacDonald as the boatman was a genius piece of casting), it's fantastic. There's a few moments that always make me tear up, and it's rare I'm not sobbing by the end with "and once a year, I get to see my friend"

Oh man you can tell how good this movie is and how impactful it is- I cried just by watching this condensed, edited down version. Such an amazing movie!!!

Someone most likely already said, but the reason it looks like that is because the movie is all 2D BUT they used a computer program to manipulate the lighting and make it LOOK 3D. I cannot talk about it enough

I love this movie, my one and only complaint is that Alva and Klaus must have made the fake toy plan before learning of the real reason why Jesper was there so it’s weird he didn’t also know.

The past Netflix was great, nowadays I'm not so sure.. Animation is getting so underrated now. Klaus is a masterpiece!

1:24 Someone explained to me that the animation style is just them using 3D characters overtop almost entirely 2D backgrounds and that just feels like a good way to describe it

I still really enjoy this movie. Makes me believe this is the Christmas canon now. Really my only gripe with the movie is the argument scene of Jesper leaving. But that's really my only critique of this otherwise beautiful masterpiece.
