We visit the UK's biggest MGB Dealer!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In the day, there were loads of MG dealers selling MGBs but as the car as been out of production for over 40 years, specialist dealers are few and far between.
Former Glory, probably the UK’s biggest MGB dealer, is one of those dealers and carries a huge stock of MGBs as well as MGA’s and some of the more modern models.
The operation is run by Nigel Guild, and is completely independent, so if you fancy seeing several top quality MGBs, this is probably the best place to do it. Tell them we sent you!

Superb video thank you. Former Glory is a great company that provides a full support package for MG owners. Always found Nigel to be incredibly helpful, full of integrity and a true gentleman. My Wife is now the proud owner of 980 WTX featured in the video !

We bought a 1964 MGB roadster just before we got married 51 years ago, kept it around four years. Then had a 1968 BGT for around 12 years. Both in original condition, both with overdrive, they have excellent road manners as standard and practical too. Great fun both of them.

Great to see this awesome collection of MGB's. I find it interesting that Nigel likes the purity of the original cars as they don't need any modifications, but then on all but one of his cars they are modified to varying degrees, some very highly modified. He talks up the mods as they should be considered of higher value, so what happened to his love of the original cars?. I loved the video and seeing all the cars. I plan on visiting his shop when i am next in the UK. Thanks for doing it.

I would agree with Nigel Guild's observation that the best MGB's are the original unmolested cars. MGB's were designed and built around proprietary mass market components by engineers who really were at the top of their craft. Mostly when amateur enthusiasts try to "improve" on these cars the end result is less pleasant and less reliable.

Thanks for your comment. In terms of value, probably the original cars are most valuable but I reckon that owners should be free to do what they want to do with their cars...

I didn’t mean to say that MGB owners aren’t at liberty of modifying their cars. They are of course welcome to try anything they would like to. It’s just that a properly maintained and unmodified MGB almost without exception will prove to be a much nicer car to drive.

I don't think it's right to say mg engineers were at the top of there game when they made the cars ,I think it was just a game to them with very little engineering skill or quality components used at all

Nice to see the top end of M.G. sales .As a pensioner it"s O.K. to look but I doubt if I could afford to upgrade from my mid 70s M.G.B. to a nice V8 and at the moment my car is my daily runner ,so could I afford the fuel for a V8 because the petrol rise is relentless . My last car with a V8 was a Rover p6 ,nice reliable car and I have a 1975 2200 p6 but parts are much harder to get and more expensive than my Mgb . Keep - up the good work ,because no matter how old you are ,you live & learn ?. 🤨.

How about you film cars while running the conversation in the background? Thanks for the great content..

Nice cars but shoockingly... Eye-wateringly expensive why on earth would anyone pay these prices for a humble MGB?..... They are just not worth the expenditure.... I've owned many Bs over the years my current 1976 B ROADSTER COST 3K it's a little tatty and around the edges but I prefer to see them like that immaculate showroom condition cars leave me cold.... I get as much pleasure pottering around in my cheap tatty B as someone who paid maybe 10-25k for a B... why on earth would someone pay that amount of cash for a B is beyond me 😮

The MG BGT is an attractive classic to have and for me a better proposition to have than the roadster, which must be the blandest looking sports car ever built! I was at school when these came out in 1962 and then I thought they were nothing special especially after the stylish MG A and the performance of the B is not something special to get excited about! However I've just finished restoring an MG CGT and the lovely 6 cylinder engine is something to get excited about. As with all things in buying and owning classic cars, if you don't like restoration buy a car that's well sorted and needs no body work doing in to it, because B's and C's can be big money pits when it comes to bodyworks. However, this a very nice collection of cars, especially the early B with pull door handles, a rare car in that condition.
