This Is such good info for newbies because I know they freak out seeing all that dead foliage.

Most potatoes grow in one layer. Only the long season potatoes grow up and down the stem. Indeterminate varieties are usually the long season growers. Early or new potatoes are typically determinant and grows in a single layer.
