The Aristocrat, a classic Filipino restaurant that has been serving traditional Filipino dishes since 1936, has earned a spot on TasteAtlas's "150 Most Legendary Restaurants in the World" list. It's the only Filipino restaurant to make the cut. TasteAtlas celebrates these enduring icons of gastronomy, emphasizing their commitment to honest, no-nonsense food. The Aristocrat secured the 108th position on the list, and its popular Lumpiang Shanghai was recognized as the "best in the world" among Filipino restaurants.
The Aristocrat was founded by the late Doña Engracia ("Aling Asiang") Cruz-Reyes and her husband, Justice Alex A. Reyes. Aling Asiang's culinary expertise elevated once humble and unknown Filipino dishes to widespread acclaim, both locally and internationally. Starting as a snack mobile in 1936, the Aristocrat has since expanded into a restaurant enterprise with branches across Metro Manila, all renowned for serving high-quality food.
