Does the UK do better Croissants than the French?
We Took the UK's BEST Croissant to France... and Lille Didn't Faint?! 🇫🇷
Get ready for a buttery battle you won't believe! We've crossed the Channel on a DFDS ferry Dover To Calais with a mission: to prove that the UK actually bakes some world-class croissants.
The undisputed champion of Britain, a flaky, golden masterpiece crowned the nation's best from the Chestnut Bakery (named the best in the UK at the inaugural Best Croissant UK Awards) in covent garden
But can it hold its own against the birthplace of the pastry itself?
Lille, France, prepare to be challenged! We're hitting the streets of this charming city, armed with our British bread beast and ready to face off against the local legends. From cozy cafés to hidden bakeries, we'll be putting Lille's finest croissants to the test. Will our UK hero crumble under the pressure, or will it rise to the occasion and claim croissant glory?
Prepare for:
Butter-induced meltdowns: We're diving deep into the perfect croissant, dissecting layers, textures, and that all-important buttery snap.
Local vs. International: Witness the clash of cultures as French bakers react to our audacious claim. Will they scoff? Spit? Or will they be won over by the British underdog?
The Lille Croissant Trail: Join us on a delicious journey through Lille's pastry scene, sniffing out hidden gems and uncovering the city's secret croissant stashes.
The Ultimate Taste Test: Spoiler alert: there will be crumbs. Lots of them. But only one croissant can wear the crown. Will it be the UK's champion, or will a Lille local steal the show?
Bonus: We'll also be sharing the secrets behind the UK's best croissant, so you can try your hand at baking your own buttery masterpiece!
P.S. Don't forget to leave a comment and let us know who you think will win the ultimate croissant showdown! 🇫🇷🇬🇧
