Well I know why Mill decks are called Mill, it is due to the first card that puts cards from the top of your opponent deck was called Mill Stone. So that's how they got their name, I remember reading about how mill decks came to be called that years ago looking up deck types for an idea. Or I got curious why mills were called mill. Who knows anymore.

U even answer it yourself! xD Not only that what u said, also - mill jsut goes on and on and on and on till there is no wheat left. Also, flour is in a powder form, and powder is kind of sinonimus to nothing... You mill it till nothing is left. Only powder. Almost like ash, which u can easly blow into the air, much like the graveyard in magic... It lost its shape and is unusable anymore, u can just exile it... Or make smth new from it

Except the term "Mill" has been used in other card games before MTG's "Millstone" got printed. So it's more like the card got its name from the Mill strategy and WotC made a pun with it.

It could also be from a Bridgeport mill or cnc mill, where a small amount of metal is taken of the top every pass

@@TheRicardobtc I know it's been a month, but Millstone was first printed in Revised which came out in 94 which is before Mtg had any competition. It's not that hard to look up.

Good thing we play a game where you can filter through 9 cards and not find 1 of what you have 24 of in a 60 card deck. What a time to be a live.

BTW "mill" is called mill because of Millstone for folks new to Magic.

I played one game where I got 7 Yaroks on the field with Spark Double+Mirror March, then played God-Eternal Rhonas and it took like 1h to resolve everything, all my creatures had 0 atk, and both my timer and my opponent's ran out while STILL resolving the triggers. I ended up losing because I drew my entire deck with Risen Beef, still 100% worth it.

I mean Mill its self makes sense.. When you're playing a "mill deck" you basically are slowly eroding someone's library. Kinda like when you mill grains they slowly get smaller and smaller from the repeated action.

I think I played against you recently. I was running a really weird Red deck I like to call "false aggro", in which it appears to be an aggro deck, right up until I start ramping and casting huge dragons.

I did this a few weeks ago but with a 4 colours elemental that played yarok. Mirror march rolled 11 on yarok, that resulted in 264 reef triggers because I had a single risen reef in play. I didn't have enough mana to cast either Jace or Gaea's blessing so I lost, but I regret nothing.

That's why I always have network issues

I hit 7 risen reef hits on the mirror march. Instantly milled myself and had just enough mana for Jace. Was an excellent win.

I think Mill actually comes from cards with the stile of a "Grind stone" for example in early prints. when you Mill wheat you grind away at what was a one whole, bit my bit. also you use a grinding stone mill to mill your corn. "grind stone"

go to collection, filter for artifaacts, uncommon, cost 2, M19. There is the MILLstone, and that's the story of the name. But, milf is a more fitting name and whatnot

To be fair he's draws like 6 cards to hit a 3rd land. Statistically speaking if you keep a 2 land hand in a 23land deck you have a 51% chance to draw a land your first draw and it grows exponential from their for each non land drawn. Not hitting a 3rd land by turn 4 on the draw is statistically unlikely. If you watch the video closely he goes through multiple times of no lands then will sometimes look at 6 lands in a row with 2 shimmers. it notoriously known that the arena shuffler has a tendency to clump cards eg the number of times you draw opening hands with 3 of the same card etc...

Gaea's Blessing can handle him getting countered unless it's by Syncopate, No Escape, or Devious Coverup. I was half expecting a Despark in response to the draw ability to turn it into a loss.

Ooh try this. No gifts of paradise, no fixed dig through time, just hard core esper control. Thought erasures, teferis, kayas and ashioks. Very fun

I did read the channel's name. It's just I have seen so many decks with gift of paradise, fixed dig through time and the works it just starts feeling less and less original. I really like the hyper cancer deck he built. But it would be cool to see some newer strategies like esper or maybe an artifact list.

That deck definitely makes more sense, than my version with yarok, BUTT hitting with yaroks is funnier. Thats why I haven't stripped my yaroks from the deck
