Mate, been there done that and not just once, the first time on the side of a deep man-made channel, with fast current and slippery sides. I ended up in the water and was swept down the channel so had trouble getting out. As I was alone it was frightening. The second time it was on a boat ramp. I jarred my back and split the back of my head open. So I feel for you buddy.

Took a spill like that on a jetty when I was like 20... Knocked the wind outta me, thought I broke my thumb when I landed on my hand, but after rolling around for a minute... right back to fishin lol. Way to be 👍🏻

I love it that Ty is concerned for Shane’s health and ego so much he didn’t even want to post it instead of like most people who would do slow motion and laugh at it. That goes to show that Ty is an incredible man. Thank you Ty for being an incredible man and friend.

Yeah those softshells are super fast on land and in water. They will bury themselves in sand/mud when hooked. Awesome video!!

That slip that Shane took was exactly how I screwed my back up for life. It don't take much. 4 surgeries later and I still remember it like it was yesterday. However, those huge grass carp and that massive soft shell must have made both of your days. Thanks for sharing.

Unless it's a snapping turtle, all other turtles are illegal to harvest in Pennsylvania. I've read the rules for Pa. Unless it's named something different here in the commonwealth? Is there another official name for that soft shell turtle? I'd like to know. and get it right.

That is a HUGE soft shell! I’ve caught some pretty big ones, but nothing close to that.

The minute he stepped into the water on that bank I was like "That's a bad idea" glad he's ok, the instant feet out from under you always sucks, it's shocking haha

Caught a Soft Shell on the Verde River in AZ just like that, funny part about it, once I got it on Shore, it got traction and It fought better on Shore, it took off across the sandy beach and was stripping line, 5 minutes of the most fun I ever had Fishing a River... Glad Your Buddy was ok, that was a nasty Fall.... OUCH! 👍🤠

I was figuring on a snapping turtle. But a soft shell? Cool.

Same here - know very well the dangers of mucky slippery flat stones (bricks) under pond water. Have taken a few wind-knocking spills as well.

So glad Shane is ok, it could have been much worse. My wife fell backwards like that and lost her short term memory for 6 hours. Was like a repetitive loop every few minutes - "What happened? Where are we?" It was scary and the ER didn't seem to know what to do. She finally snapped out of it in the hospital.

Shane's fall is a common occurrence next to the water. I have fished for over 50 years and fallen a number of times and DAMN it can hurt. Falling into the water when you're alone with a cracked pelvis or vertebra can be downright dangerous. Be careful my friends and stay safe. Good all around video. May I suggest a stout fly rod with weight forward line and a white maribou jig and fly fish for those carp. You will be surprised. Did this some in the sloughs near Portland, Ore. The occasional Bass and Catfish would pick it up too.

I'm nearing 45 old and i know i couldn't take a fall like that and not be headed to the ER....when i was in my 20's-30'S , i could have bounced back up and walked it off, but not anymore. I didn't even laugh, i cringed when u fell. I went down at a boat ramp when i was in my teens and seeing your fall took me back to that day. Much respect my friend.

One of those once in awhile, ok. Having those swim along the shore looking for sitters, than searching your bait out constantly-sucks! I put away my gear for years because of soflshells, didn't see the point of just going and feeding them AND after a few bite downs trying to release them I was to the point I was ready to use the hatched on them. Missouri fines are hefty and you always get caught. Carp-fun aren't they! Always have another burst of fight, aren't caught until in your hands. Oh yeah, moved to Florida, no bait-stealing turtles in the salt.

Wow that was painful to watch him fall hope he is okay say a prayer for him sometimes falls like that hurt worse a day later I know from experience great video reminded me of night fishing for carp always had a blast
