We Tested Our Truck To The MAX - Overlanding Anza Borrego Desert
In this video we took a trip to our local Desert, Anza Borrego. We went off road through some amazing washes with beautiful flower blooms. We conquered the famous Diablo Drop off with ease now that we have re-geared the truck and installed a locker. Our adventure continued over to Truck Haven area by Salton Sea where we found a cliff side camp spot with unforgettable views. The sun set was one to remember. The following day we tested our rigs at the 4x4 training area, explored Calcite Mine, Fonts Point and Inspiration Wash. The Terra Flex Suspension on the Jeep JKU Rubicon Hardrock worked well as did my ICON 3.0 suspension system when we did flex tests. Both vehicles are running 37x12.5 BFG KM3's. We have some minor plastic trimming to do on the rear of both our rigs. The miniature Glamis Sand Dune we found along the way near Borrego Springs was very fun as well. This was a jamb packed short trip and we will surely be back again soon.

Great seeing the IFS of a tundra vs a solid front axel Jeep. I've always been a jeep guy, but i'm building my first tundra, it's good to see the truck get flexy!

Pros vs cons for sure. I’m happy with its abilities and can still carry a tonnnn of weight and tow a trailer. Another video coming out this weekend with some more flexing 👍👍
Been there on a dirt bike. Diablo drop off is a much steeper section in person! Not too difficult but always loose and silty make it slick

I like you guys, so I subscribed. Need to get back to Anza, lived in Borrego Springs back in the 80's and use to go down to the Anza in the evening and watch the glow fade.

For sure! I grew up in the state park with bikes and side by sides. So I’m loving all the new area I can go with a street legal vehicle.

Man this truck is bad to the bone. Just got a quote back to have a fox 2.5 set up done on mine and don't look like I'll be getting it any time soon. I'll just lust over this setup until the time is right !

Just missed you out there. I was in Fish Creek two weekends ago.The flower bloom is going nuts.Just got back from Hawk Canyon today for the weekend. We've camped on those bluffs by the off road parks a few times now. Cool views. I ordered the 200 wt Renogy Solar kit we talked about. Waiting for it to arrive to install. Cool video, love all those spots.

@@prospectoverland Yea Hawk Canyon is street legal only and it's pretty awesome. Been camping in there for a couple years now. We saw Brad and Marco there a couple months ago with the owners of Patriot Campers. Talked to them for a few, super cool.
Howdy from across the NV border. Yeah that drop off is nothing with lockers. Your challenges will be in width restricted areas. Nice rig

It’s a Go Fast Camper. And it’s a 5 1/2 ft bed. I have since switch to a Four Wheel Camper Project M.
Is this a recent trip? Diablo Dropoff was washed out when we were there back in November.

Haha no worries. Method’s 18” +25 offset, with 37” BFG km3. Icon 3.0 coil-overs with their billet upper control arm. Spindle gusset kit from Total Chaos. Body Mount Chop plates from Total Chaos also. Let me know if you got any other questions.
Is there a bypass for the Diablo drop off?

Kinda….I know there is a more mild way around the south edge but haven’t looked myself at it. I just see vehicles go up and down over that way.
Did I hear you say you had lockers? If so, is there a video about them? If not, if you don’t mind me asking, who installed them and what was the cost? Thank you.

Yes you did. Rear only.... Eaton E Locker with Nitro 5.29 gears. Pro Gear in San Diego. They work amazing and they did an perfect install job. Zero gear noise you hear people complaining about. And cost, I don't remember exactly because I bough the gears through Nitro Gear online, then Pro Gear order the locker and did the install so I forget which price was what. Shoot them a call, they will get ya a quote.

Onx and Gaia….Mostly Gaia though and even a little Google Maps with the areas pre downloaded.
