Thank you for telling the truth, wicked Tuna has ruined Tuna fishing because they got everybody and their brother thinking they are going to get Rich. I am a commercial fisherman and it makes it very hard for me.

Thanks Roger. We've got some other ones we've done on the channel as well. People are shocked when they find out the average you actually get paid. NOTHING like what you see on TV.

Great video truly transparent, you guys in ten minutes explained the process better than wicked tuna could in a two hour episode. But I was just wondering what percentage of profit does the buyer make?

Super kind of you Sharon. Your question is a good one. What we’re finding about the industry is that number (the buyer’s profit) isn’t always clear. Hopefully I’ll be able to answer this question better over time.

Are you selling the tuna you acquire on charters or is it at the option of the person buying an experience?

A LOT OF PEOPLE GET SO EXCITED WHEN THEY HEAR MONEY BUT HAVE NO IDEA ON EXPENSES. YOU CAN TELL ON YOUR COMMENTS WHO OWNS A BUSINESS AND WHO DOES NOT. NOW EVEN THOUGH YOU PROFITED $9K, YOU ALSO NEED TO PREPARE FOR THE NEXT TRANSACTION.

One good thing about commercial fishing a center console keep fuel cost down. Only down side you spend a lot of days cold and wet.

Wouldnt you get more in japan? I thought bluefin was alot more sought after in japan, especially big top grade fish.

What are the limits on the Atlantic Bluefin ? In the ‘80’s it was under 500lbs was 6 per man per boat a day , a giant was 1 per boat per day .

Commercially, it’s one over 73” per day per boat. Which, extends the season but makes it very hard to be profitable.

Have to say I've seen a few of these videos now and I have to say, no one works for free. Every video is the same here's my actual check here's my exspesnses. I make nothing yet I keep doing it, so some middle man can get rich. Sure makes commercial fishermen sound stupid and I'm from Alaska I've never met one that wasn't smart as a whip and tough as nails. So what's the real story?

Ok sooooo 1,000$ reels and rods 750-1.5m sport fishing boat bait and burning 250-300$ in fuel a day for a 32 ft seavee yalls boat looks bigger so prob more all for 9 grand lol

Correct. Very hard to turn a profit in the bluefin space. That’s actually the point of many of our videos. It’s a very difficult industry.

It was even worse this past January. Average was $7 per pound. Not good.
