We should be making more Indian sweets at home - Mohanthal
Ingredients:
Ingredients
2 cups gram flour (besan)
2 tbsps + ½ cup ghee + for greasing
4 tbsps milk
1 cup sugar
¼ tsp green cardamom powder
¼ tsp nutmeg powder
8-10 almonds, sliced
8-10 pistachios, sliced
Method
1. Take 2 cups of Besan.
2. Heat 2 tbsps ghee and milk in a non-stick pan. Pour both over the gram flour.
3. Mix thoroughly with your fingers so that no lumps are formed and it resembles bread crumbs. Pass it through a sieve again and set aside.
4. Grease a burfi tray with some ghee.
5. Heat a deep nonstick pan. Add sugar, ¾ cup water and cook on medium heat till the syrup reaches 1½ strings consistency.
6. Heat ½ cup ghee in a non-stick kadai. Add the prepared gram flour mixture and cook, stirring continuously, on low for 15-20 minutes or till fragrant and the flour turns golden brown.
7. Add cardamom powder and nutmeg powder. Remove from heat and add the hot sugar syrup when the besan mixture is still hot. Mix continuously to ensure that no lumps are formed. Continue to mix till it reaches setting consistency.
8. Pour onto greased burfi tray and tap it on a flat surface to flatten it. Garnish with almonds and pistachios. Let it cool and set for 15-20 minutes.

Actually sugar was not used in making sweets and other recipies few years ago.. instead we used khand , thread mishri and other sweeteners . Sugar is made just few years ago and sugar is an artificial sweetener or you can say the most famous artificial sweetener..

@@ShwetsKitchen Sugar which was made thousands of years ago was not refined sugar but nowadays if someone talks about sugar.. they are talking about refined sugar only and maybe the sugar which was made thousand years ago is nothing but khand or any other sweetener..but sugar nowadays is made using harsh chemicals but those chemicals has nothing to with the taste..

They are all bad for us. Sugar, honey or any other sweetener. Especially is large quantities are all bad. No doubt sugar is the worst.

I've made a lot of recipies using khand.. It takes same as refined sugar but khand is pure..and I've heard about thread mishri too.. It's just about measurement because khand is used a little more than refined sugar..and it tastes great 😍

Chandi ka Parat. It’s ultra thin sheets of silver. Very popularly used on Indian sweets.
