A lot of people think KZ’s intro in Singer 2018 is auto tune. I think it’s a Reverb or other called it electro-synthesizer to give a different effect while singing. Auto tune is different from vocal effects. Either way KZ Tandingan slayed that performance! ctto

She's one and only versatile Filipina singer that can do different genre and play different instruments as well like EzMil, she can really rap so fast. She's a total performer on stage she's the beast. Next ROYALS and REAL GONE from the same competition. In this week competition she won and beaten Jessie J buy eliminated after 5 weeks I guess. One thing I notice, KZ don't just do covers and make them her own, she presents an empowered version of otherwise "victimized" women. Adele's Rolling in the Deep wallowed in pain and regret. KZ's Rolling in the Deep gave the dirty finger to her tormentor and shoved him aside 🤭. Same with Lorde's Royals. KZ's versions showed strength and power.

Just so you know, the auto tune at the beginning was an artistic choice. KZ is not only a singer, she's an artist. Her rendition of rolling in the deep in this instance is almost theatrical. Here's my take on her performance which I believe has several creative layers: interpretation of the story in the song, melodic changes, vocal style, and stage presence. I want to share what I feel about how KZ interpreted the story. The creative decision to start with an acoustic guitar and then the utilization of the auto tune is pure genius. The guitar implies romance that rolled into some sort of a bubble as soon as KZ begin singing with the auto tune. The transition is confusing- acoustic to auto tune - exactly what KZ wants to evoke (what happened after she gave her all in love?). The robotic sound effected by the auto tune is a reference for manipulation as KZ (who feels treated like a robot) sings "you played it... you played..." while standing still in that dark stage, her facial expression is sad and defeated. She wanted to break away from this unfortunate state.When KZ belts out a sustained note with the auto tune, that signals breaking away from the dark - she pushed it away (see her hand gesture before the sustained belt). The camera moved and rolled (underline rolled). The stage is now filled with streaks of light. She's free! She's no longer sad. But she's angry because something beautiful is all put to waste. It takes a technical vocal skill to utilize an auto tune in a live performance especially when KZ is clear what feeling she wants to communicate with her audience. KZ "owned" this song right in the very beginning. The rap is just a bonus. My two cents.

Yeah, thats a competition in China were she competed w/other internationall singers including Jessie J. Rolling in the deep is her first song and win that day. KZ lasted to 8 songs all in all and Jessie J won in the final.

Guys the auto tune was just added in the intro part just to give a different vibe of the song being a well known song of Adele just so it'll strike some kinda intriguing conversation for such performance.. but that's just an aesthetic add on.. Kz doesn't need it in anyway just to showcase her takent and versatility.. thats a production aesthetic of a song actually.. too bad others misinterpreted her use of aesthetics in production numbers..

Agreed. We talk about this in the next video that's coming out. We are just conditioned negatively with autotune here in America, we will keep this with a more open mind as we move forward, as we clearly reacted the opposite of what the context and meaning was. :)

Btw, her Wishbus performance of this same song would give you a clearer idea of how shes uses auto tune merely for exaggerated effect in different ways absent from the live performance; I think that's the better explanation. It's like she was deconstructing the song. I think autotune easily triggers everyone only because they don't make use of it other than to correct vocal imperfection.

Think of the context of the song. Add *crazy* girlfriend (the one who was sweet when you met) Look at the body language. Then the Autotune makes sense. (See if you can spot the "gun" threat(!) as well) Add the "don't mess with me" rap.

Are you guys fuckin kidding me!!! She murdered Adele song. KZs version is more a REVENGE style song. Adele is more a SAD song. KZ mixes all the genre in this song. ROCK, JAZZ, HIPHOP and RAP. BTW she's only been discovered since 2018 X FACTOR PHILIPPINES. NOT DECADES AGO. Get your facts together and your girlfriend doesn't a real artist. KZ can do many things than just singing.
