During the bridge at the end check out the video. We realize that the person that she is missing is actually her pre-fame version of herself. The pre-fame version writes "Rosé" on the mirror, as she is dreaming about her stage name when she becomes famous. The name then transforms into "Roseanne", which is actually her real name, the simple girl who was grounded in the important things.

At one point she sings :just drove by your house, too far from you now" . This also references going back to her beginning and how far she's come, but she will always remember who she was and is.

Rosé really wanted on the ground to be released becaused this is her own story and through her solo outside blackpink she was able to tell what she really want.

In this song Rosé talks about how she misses the times when she wasn't famous, there's just so many lyrics and scenes in this MV that proves that. (Examples) "You find out that your golds just plastic". Meaning she thought being a Kpop idol was something she really wanted so that's why she trained so hard for so many years, but now that she's in the music industry and a famous Kpop idol she realizes that this isn't the type of life that she truly wants because she just loves playing her guitar and being with the music that she likes, because when you get into the music industry it's not even like that anymore. The music industry is a terrible place. Also when she says "I worked my whole life just to get high just to realize everything I need is on the ground". Again meaning that fame isn't what she wants in life" Also the lyrics when she said "And I'm tryna send a message and let you know that every single minute I'm without you I regret it" "You" as referring to her past self and how she misses the simpler days in life when she could still do things that are out of reach now with all the fame that she has, and those are just a few examples to name but there's a lot more. Also in one scene she's standing on some stairs and below her it says "Roses are dead, Love is Fake" which could mean the love that she receives from most fans are just fake and not actual genuine love and they only "love" the famous Rosé person, but real genuine love can only be received by her true friends and her family, beacuse a bunch of random people that she doesn't even know screaming "I LOVE YOU ROSÉ" isn't real love that's just fake. If you have a passion for Music that doesn't mean you should get into the music industry. Out of all the solos they (as Blackpink) have, On The Ground is literally my favourite. This song is really talking about her humble beginning and stuff like that, and it is so amazing to hear those powerful lyrics. ❤️ And fun fact, if you know Blackpink, all of their Music Videos never use any CGI nor rely on the power of green screen. Those explosions, fires, and well done, and super budgeted, sets are literally real.

Another great reaction as always :). Another thing I really loved with this MV and song is Right at the start things like the chandelier drops, yet there is silence. The meteorite comes crashing down ( from up high onto the ground ), the car is on fire and a raging fire. But, you do not hear the sound of fire, you hear the sound of wind. Almost as if she is in another world and not part of the present one. This is a beautiful song with so much rich and deep meaning. Rosė has a wonderful and distinctive voice and the way she sings this song is just in my opinion perfect.

There are already a ton of great comments explaining the basic meaning of the song, but I wanted to add that the background lyrics “what goes up must come down….you’re running out of time” indicates that she knows her time with Blackpink and as an idol will come to an end at some point, but when that happens, she knows she’ll still have what she needs….herself, her friends and family, and her love of music. You can see this as well when her idol persona of Rose hangs out at the piano with her normal identity of Roseanne.

Blackpink is in the ''girl crush'' genre in kpop, like: ''I'm cool, I'm awesome and a badass''; and they are extremely good at it, but they are also very versatile to do other genres if they want to. I love all of them equally. On the other I have to admit that Rosé screams musicianship to me ,whatever she does. She wrote and composed her solos and she plays many instrument since she was a kid . Playing piano and guitar helped her with her insomnia since when she was like 6 yo. Plus it doesn’t hurt that her voice is unique and addictive, that she’s pretty af and last but not least she looks like being a very genuine , sweet and humble person

Thank you guys for this video. I'm an European grown woman and before i discovered the Blackpinks i could even listen to the world k- pop. I thought it was just candy candy commercial garbage. And then 4 years after thei debut i got into the Blackpink Rabbit hole. They're all extremely talented, thay had a super long and exhausting training. I think it's a deserved success. Rosè is one of a kind. She plays piano and guitar since she was a child . Imo she's a promising singer but also songwriter and the proof is that for her solos she didn't get a pre packaged song to sing and dance and be pretty into . She wrote and produced both into the ground and Gone.

In some interviews, all the Blackpink girls referred to "On The Ground" as "That Song", when they were talking about BP music. They all identify with the lyrics about the highs and being told that they are on the top of the world, but finding that the Gold is plastic. How knowing that inside, their real selves are still there, their childhood hopes and dreams... the things that got them to where they are now.
