Travis you have the most unique experiences with people. I’ve never heard of something like this happening and I would have been terrified for my life. I’m glad it’s over but make sure they can’t somehow come back. They sound like they don’t have a healthy relationship either.

Also bi-polar, with suicidal ideation. I've started on Ketamine infusion therapy. If you're having issues you might want to check into it. It's expensive but so far very worth it. Let me know if you want or anyone wants more information about it. Brian

Sorry you had to go through that . Glad you are safe and well . Best to Taylor. Glad he was able to get through this without blaming you too much . In College we had a roommate go home for the weekend and he never returned. He had quit school weeks beforehand. He quietly moved stuff out of the house and left a note saying school away from home was too much for him. My Dad had to convince the guys parents to pay the rent until we replaced him within the next month . Weird .

Hi Travis (Hey T), Well, I have had an experience somewhat like this. My Husband and I have been together 23 years and have been RNs for 30 years. We both were in heterosexual relationships previously and had 6 children between us. He had been on meds for depression but when our medical insurance changed, he had to change to a different anti-depressant. He started hearing voices specifically to my (blood) son. My son works long, hard days and has his own family and definitely doesn't have time or energy to be in our attic. He also started hearing other peoples voices; and he started seeing them in the house on the sofa. He started making coffee and cookies for them and trying to SERVE them. He had me up all ours of the night and day. It took about 3 months of trying new meds to get him back to sensibility. He nearly ruined his relationship with all of our children (and me) before we got him under control. I do agree with some of your commenters that this is a classic symptom of Paranoid Schizophrenia. He's OK now but it was hell going through it. The more people you have in a communal space, the more potential of conflict/mental illness. Learn as you go. Love and trust and communicate because you and T will have some rough times ahead. Peace!

Sorry for your troubles with roommates. Been there a couple of times. The only way out for me was allowing the roommate to leave me with the overdue bills for his half of the apartment and all the damage he did. Sometimes people just break and they can’t find their way out and though you don’t want to blame them for their personal darkness, they can drag you down with them if you if you’re not careful. It really is a crapshoot when it comes to roommates. Some have been great some are just ok and others wanna make you tear your hair out.

Yeah man. Homie was trippin for real. Never had a crazy roommate but had a crazy neighbor that is bipolar or something. Too much of a long story to tell but I went through so much shit with her living in this apt building to the point where I couldn't even function normally throughout the day. Yeah bro and I'm glad you guys feel much lighter and can breathe now. Give Taylor a hug and hold on tight to him

In college, I had a bipolar paranoid schizophrenic as a roommate that would accuse us of putting cameras in the vents to spy on him and that we were talking about him to the government and a lot of crazy things like that. He would approach us sometimes with a knife in his hand looking very irratated as we were doing the dishes. We felt very unsafe around him all the time and would avoid going home because we were afraid that he would be home.

My Old Roomate threatened me when he was drunk and his boyfriend had to fight him and he ended up breaking his nose and I had to call the cops... I left them 1 day after and now I am living with my best friend and she is so amazing... so after I left... I found out they ended up back together... I was like WTF... Karma is going to bite them in the ass... So I wrote a letter saying Thank you for allowing me to stay with you, but the other roomate that threatened me... I forgive you and I accept you apology, because I wanted to be the better man... so I left... But that was an experience

I began to sense this back in April but not knowing you had roommates I could never connect dots but that sense of "something is just not right" could never leave my mind whenever I viewed your videos. Glad this experience did not separate you two and I am sure the shared experience will draw you closer still. People are so strange.

I had the same situation with a roommate. I met this guy and we hit it off immediately. Some weeks went by and my guy moved in with me. Keep in mind that I was the only one on the lease, the roommate was on a sublease. There was a time when my roommate actually sat in a chair in the living room (which is outside our bedroom door) with a knife on his lap. I had walked out and saw this. Long story short. The stress of the roommate ended my relationship with my guy. (If only I had a time machine, as well). And I eventually kicked the roommate out, but not after the damage was done. I tried to remain friends with my ex at this time, but he kept holding it against me that I had allowed the roommate to come between us. Yeah, I was really stupid on how I handled that.

I inadvertently lived with a paranoid schizophrenic for 6 months. What unfolded was worse than a Stephen King nightmare. I was so affected I almost ended up in a hospital. After he was out of the picture, it took me over a year to feel like myself again. He was a female friend's husband. They were the visitors who never left. That's one situation I would definitely change if I could go back in time. I was much younger and naive back then and made the mistake of opening my heart to these "friends". The lesson in it for me was to never allow anyone or any situation to take your peace of mind if at all possible...because once you lose it, it's hard to get back.

Travis and Taylor, I'm so sorry you guys had to go through that, I've been in similar living situations and I know how crazy and stressful it can be. I do agree that whatever was making him crazy like that was probably drugs or psychosis because normal people don't usually act like that. Also, I just want to praise you guys for both being strong enough to handle living in a hostile living situation especially because I know how hard it can be, and I hope now you guys can find some peace and feel at ease now that you're roommates are gone. This turned out to be a book. I'm sorry. My old roommates liked having a former co-worker of ours over often. I didn't like him. He didn't have a good work ethic, first of all. He'd goof off and everyone at work basically hated him. For some reason, my roommates liked him, and wanting to keep the peace, I tolerated him. Anyway, lo and behold, he loses his job (at McDonald's) because he broke the ice machine. Then his car breaks down in our parking lot. My roommates were super chill and allowed him to stay over until he got a new job, which he eventually did, like a month later, at another McDonald's 45 minutes away. We only had one car, and one of my roommates was in College, coincidentally 45 minutes away in the OTHER DIRECTION from the apartment. So... at ~5AM they'd drive him up to McDonald's, and then my roommate would drive back down for college. During this whole situation, he was an absolute slob. He'd eat fast food and just leave the bags on the floor, fiddled around with the internet router without my roommates' permission, he'd leave cigarette butts everywhere. My roommates tolerated all of this. Then, money started missing. Mind you, besides myself, he was the only person in the apartment left alone at all, let alone for long periods of time. We had friend over, sure, but they weren't left alone in the house, not even alone in a room, not because we didn't trust them, but because, well... it wasn't a very big apartment. I'd leave my rent money on the dining room table, my roommates would leave it there at the beginning of the day, and by the end of day, the money would be gone. We decided to put all money in a specified, hidden location upstairs (which he had no excuse to be up there) and that money would end up missing. They confronted him about it, and though he said he didn't steal it, he'd pay them back. (??) A day later, he magically fixed his car and left within the 15 minutes it took my roommates to go to the grocery store across the street. The story doesn't end there, though. I was a manager at a local fast food restaurant, newly promoted. When customers would place large orders, we'd tell them to call ahead next time, because often large orders would deplete all available food in hot holding. Anyway, so this guy calls in. He makes a future order. $89 in value, right? Doesn't show up. Obviously, I'm stupefied, but I find out that he and and one of my crew plotted to make the call. I was pissed. Threatened to call the cops on him, and boy you'd think I had a gun in his face. I did call the police. They weren't able to help, but honestly the whole situation was more my fault than anyone else's, because I should have had the foresight to require him to pay with a credit card or he'd have to come into the store. I know better now, but yeah... just thought I'd share my story.

I didn’t have a bad roommate I had bad apartment people. One place we lived in the people beside us where crazy. He used to beat his wife all the time. Than have crazy loud make up sex. One night she finally got out and came to our bedroom window in the middle of the night asking if my husband could drive her to her sisters house. This went one for a while. They moved out a druggie moved in. Found him naked rocking chanting that he was a piano nobody could see him. A women upstairs yelled at me because apparently I didn’t pay her for baby sitting my kids. I didn’t even have kids. She would also randomly yell at kids to get off the lawn. She was yelling at a paved parking lot with no kids. Another neighbour used to show up at our living room window and ask us to change the channel on the tv back to the station we had it on because he was watching that. We had a basement apartment. Never so glad to move away from those crazy people.

I’m only ½ through the video but the DSM-5 would probably diagnose him with Bipolar Disorder or Paranoid Schizophrenia. He could’ve also been using crystal meth. Regardless, I’m really sorry for the drama that your roommates put you guys through. As for a roommate...yeah! Maybe it’s just LA. I was born and raised in Hawai’i and in 2000, when I was 27, my high school classmate asked me if I wanted to move to LA. He was moving from Chicago 3 months before me so he said he would get the apartment and buy some furniture. I’m a really easy going guy so I just told him to buy whatever he wants and I’ll give him money for my half. Well May comes around and I’m all excited to move there and to see my friend. He picked me up from the airport, took me back to the apartment, helped me unload my stuff...and then left to go out drinking! The next morning, our friends called me and asked me why I didn’t go out last night...they said they made plans for us to go out to celebrate my arrival. Apparently they told my roommate but my roommate failed to tell me about it. For 3 months we had hung out together TWO times. He didn’t drive me around anywhere, I had to catch the bus to interviews and had to catch the bus to buy my first car there. Finally, I confronted him and the reason he was so distant from the moment I got there was because he said he struggled when he got there...so I should have to struggle too!!! Yeah, my friend for the last decade told me that to my face, and this was my first time moving away from Hawai’i. Suffice it to say, I broke the lease per the okay of the landlord and I moved in with another friend from Hawai’i. 😁🏳️‍🌈🤙🏽

Hi Travis and Taylor, you should try and find a nice little place for both of you alone. Even if it is probably not the biggest or newest flat, or maybe not in the best urban area of LA, but at least you would have your own private space without having a stranger sleeping in another room. I once had a roommate that was open about having bipolar disorder. She was generally a sane person because she was on the right meds. One time we had a party and she was drinking pretty heavy which she never did. We are all having a good time until her ex boyfriend shows up and triggers something dark inside her. I see her go out to the balcony so as I'm walking towards her I see her jump off the ledge from the 3rd floor onto her ex's windshield busting it out. She stands up and screams like she was about to kill us all. Party was over and needless to say I slept with my bedroom door locked until the lease was up.

There are a lot of people on here saying that the person is schizophrenic, but unless the person was on medication and stopped when Taylor was around, it’s not that. Schizophrenia does not come and go. The person would not “get better” when Taylor wasn’t there (unless he restarted medications.) The behavior sounds more like methampethamine use/abuse, but again he would have had to stop using when Taylor wasn’t there as he “returned to normal.”

my brother is schizophrenic and this sounds similar. my brother would always accuse me of witchcraft, saying i’m making him hear voices. he’s stable now though, not so much functioning as normal person but so better than he used to be.

Travis...WOW, your story beats mine. I had roommates in 2 separate cities...Atlanta and Chicago. Both times I moved out. The roommates acted like since they had lived there first, that it was "their" place alone. I kept thinking, we are renting this place, and I am paying half. So, as not to cause hassles upon move out, I just said I needed my own place. After hearing your story, I agree with Nicholas Gallis, in the comments below. From what I know of Schizophrenia, many of his behaviors make that likely. Just know that you did not cause his difficulties, and keep this in mind, with learning about future roommates before they move in.

Sounds like my ex-roommate with bipolar. He went off his meds and since we couldn't force him to go back on, he had to go because he wasn't safe to be around. It's really sad. Mental illness is a real thing and hard to deal with.

I had a crazy roommate once! I was working at a resort one summer and for just one week I was stuck with a woman who would smoke in the room despite knowing I had asthma. She had no concern whatsoever for the fact she was endangering my life; it was "her" room, so she was going to smoke there if she felt like it! But the worst part was when she came home drunk late one night with a guy, woke me up by talking and banging around, and then proceeded to have sex on the bottom bunk of our shared bunk bed while I was on the top bunk. Honestly I don't care if I can hear sex through a wall or whatever, but having sex in the same room as someone else like she did is some whole other level disrespectful shit.

Gay Roommates in Southern California could be a whole website of horror stories. It was 25 years ago in San Diego when I lived my ‘roommate’ years and everything you mentioned in your one story happened to me at some point in my 14 years there. You guys need to find a neighborhood you can afford on your own, cuz you ain’t in a grown up relationship until you got your own place!

To be completely honest, I think that your roommate (now ex-roommate thankfully) was the one doing meth. I had an ex who did that stuff too and he did EXACTLY what that guy would do. He heard sounds, accused me of messing around with other guys, was paranoid of people/things that didn’t exist, etc. It was such a wild experience that made absolutely no sense. Glad that him and his husband are out of your life though cause it’s not safe to have people like that in your life. Who knows if that individual could’ve really *snapped* and have hurt either (or both) of you.

To me it sounds like it could have been Meth. My father is a meth addict and he exhibits similar behavior but with different subjects. Luckily I'm not in a situation where I have to live with him or be around him unsupervised anymore.
