That doesn't take anything away from you or any of the other members. You all pitch in with reckless abandon and that's what makes HTF stand out. When you guys were loading the engine on the truck and Jonathan said it's heavy it's not going anywhere it reminded me of a time when my boss and I loaded two blocks of steel on the back of the one ton, each block weighing 1800# and he said those same words" its to heavy it's not going anywhere" well half mile down the road he had to slame the brakes on, and those two blocks of steel were sitting in the cab with us, the moral of the story, just because it's heavy doesn't mean it won't move. You're talking about a real driver there, I watched Gary Webb win Races with a broken foot in 1998 these guys amateur's

I was the crew chief on a roadrace team back in the 60s. We were racing at an abandoned military base turn to a SCCA race track. This driver was racing a E type Jag and hit a hay bale and the hood came back and hit him on the top front of his helmet. He had a bubble face shield (they use to use those open face bubble face shields back then). He got a small cut on his forehead. You bleed a lot from the forehead. His face shield got covered in blood. He thought he cut the top of his head off and passed out. It was just a small cut and didn’t lose much blood. We all laughed later.

If a racer gets hurt during the season you have to work every angle to get well ENOUGH to make the next race. I had broken my nose several times, to the point that I was getting severe headaches. It was on a Saturday and I was pulling a rear on the ground with a floor jack. The rear fell off the jack and a rotor crushed my nose. I already had a sinus specialist who was going to operate at the season's end. At the hospital, they said my nose was crushed flat. I just got out of an x-ray when my doctor comes to see me. Later he came to my room and told me that surgery couldn't wait, the damage was too bad. He said Tuesday was the day he would operate, and I asked him if he could do it on Monday to give me an extra day to heal because I had a race on Friday night. He found an open O.R. Monday morning and fixed me up then..Before I got into the racecar I would pull out the old packing and put in fresh, change it again when I came back in. Back and forth like that all night. It was a grind and afterward, I felt kind of sick but managed to get through the whole night.

Don't worry Jesse you can still drive. My friend Billy won many races and track championships driving a pro stock and super Late Model missing a thumb and mangled fingers from getting his hand caught in a press at work. It was his steering hand. Keep your head up and carry on buddy.

I cut my hand once changing a lawnmower blade, ever since then, if I see my own blood, either I willingly sit down pretty quick or I'm about to hit the floor. When the nurse was putting the numbing shot in to stitch it up, I passed out again and almost fell off the hospital bed.

Good thing you didn't have to change that motor out at the track with that much time taking one little support bar out. LOL

I axed my foot and the urgent care gave me like 8 stitches. All they do is dump a bottle of disenfect on it and stitch it up. I think it was $400-$500. Seems like a fairly simple thing to do. Maybe I'll do it myself next time hehe. Looking forward to watching you guys at cedar lake.
