@@the-quiver The whole game was your typical pre-Arkham early 2000’s licensed rushed job, of course it didn’t work. But protecting the city while keeping himself in check is what Superman’s always had to do. Just watch the DCEU - Zod was in control for most of their fight and Metropolis was practically destroyed, so when fighting Doomsday his first act was to take him to space.

Two things that floored me as a kid 1: You could break the sound barrier while flying and the only audio would be the music 2: You could play as Bizarro

I love the concept of this game, honestly. There absolutely should be a properly polished, open world Superman game where you could fly around at sonic speeds, crash through buildings, leave the Earth's atmosphere! Like, how hasn't that concept been done?

@@roycebunce9373 I played it with VR and I traveled outside our solar system, even outside the milky way galaxy. I got so far away I was completely lost until I saw a galaxy from far away among a bunch of other galaxies (just looked like dots) and I made a wiild guess that it'd be our galaxy and it took a while to fly there but eventually I made it and yeah it was the milky way galaxy so I made it back to Earth. Crazy game.

@@tuber138 There are always ways to just make the playable Superman not as powerful as others. Like early Golden Age/Earth-Two Superman was really weak by current standards

True fact; Superman 64 taught me to have massive mistrust for marketing, and no matter how awesome something promises to be it can be a nightmare pile of crap. I rented it when it came out, I was 11... it crushed my soul.

@@Flexendeflexer - Batman-fans like "Atomic Forgery" have always been negative and nasty towards Superman, a fellow DC character. That's why he said his negative and snarky comment about Superman. It's weird that Batman-fans still haven't learned from "Marvel fans" that it's better to be supportive of ALL YOUR fellow characters of that universe (in this case DC's pantheon of characters) so that every character has a chance to be admired and be successful, which then ultimately leads to more positive word-of-mouth and more success for the fanbase and DC comics as a whole. But many Batman-fans still haven't learned that yet.

Personally I'm a fan of both Batman and superman, (though I've had more Batman media in my life, so naturally I'm just more of a fan of batman, but still) I mean you've got to be joking, there's no way anybody can get that riled up over a fictional character! Superman is cool! And not only that but the message of Superman resonates with a lot of people! He's an immigrant to this planet, a lot of people relate to that, having to leave everything behind and have a new home. He's a great role model! @@travelingjazzman117 To be honest, I thought I was being neutral, I even took shots at batman for being a "billionaire with a bat fursona." The space god joke stems more from the fact that some of superman's feats in the comic books can seem so insane or impossible that he pretty much becomes a god in anything but name. (i.e. bench pressing the earth, holding a black hole in his hands, literally becoming a godlike being after staying in the core of a sun for a thousand years etc.)

There actually was an open world flash game under development, I saw a KZread video about it but I'm too lazy to find it. The studio closed for reasons and the project got cancelled but it looked very promising

It would pretty much be the sprint ability in Saints Row IV which also has a kinda glide type flying ability making it the best Superman AND Flash game never made!

@@RENX5 There were three Flash games actually. The first one came out in 1992 for the Nintendo Gameboy and it was based on the 90's TV show. Then a year later another game was made for the Sega Master System and it was also based on the show. Finally, in 2006: Justice League Heroes: The Flash was made for the Gameboy Advance and was developed by Wayforward Technologies (makers of Bloodrayne, Shantae, and the River City Girls games)

Oh God, you guys can't fucking do this to me... I played this religiously when I was like 5 years old, the Warworld level especially, I can still quote every single line from it TO THIS DAY and I haven't had any reason to up till now. I don't even know why, I just loved it so much It's all I would do and It's still just so vivid like it just happened yesterday, even after so many years... this video is just a massive existential slap in the face reminding me how much older I am now and how truly beautify this game aged lol but seriously thank you for the magnificent trip down a very sacred and yet cursed piece of my early childhood, you guys are simply one of the best channels I can think of on this site and I hope you continue to make the awesome stuff you do for many years to come:D

There was a cool prototype game made by some Japanese students years ago for a Super Man game. I think it was called Unbreakable. The premise is that Superman is invincible, but the city has a health limit. And Superman must beat the boss, while multitasking, and putting out other fires. And your score is based on how much damage the city took.

Not gonna lie.. I enjoyed the open world flight where you progressively got faster the longer you flew. I enjoyed how high up and how far you're able to fly. I never went beyond the first few missions. I would mess around metropolis with my powers and pretty much just do whatever popped into my imagination/head canon as a kid... coming up with excuses to run on the ground at super speed, grab several objects, fly as high up as possible, and then either drop them or yeet them and then fly to catch the object before they landed. Often it was the daily planet sphere from the roof, since it NEVER despawned no matter what and was indestructible. I'd have a tiny bit of fun doing whatever my imagination could think of. I tried the story mode..and my god it sucked. I can't remember if i used cheats or GameShark...but I do remember playing as bizarro

I've played this game. Looking back on it, what upset me the most is that you couldn't actively play out and participate in anything from the movie. Film content was restricted to cutscenes only. Also, that moment in the film where Superman stops a plane from crashing is nowhere to be found.

Fun fact: You can play as Bizarro in Free Roam mode you just have to Pause the game and press Up, Right, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Right, Up. Then, fly to the marker at the top of the GNN building (the building when you start the game)to change to Bizarro. To change back to Superman, go to the marker at the other end of Metropolis. This cheat was on the DVD release of this movie and works both on ps2 and xbox 360 but for ps2 to work you must have finished the Warworld fight.

As someone who played superman returns the video game, I strongly disagree, this is a great game unlike superman 64

I'd recommend playing the 2004 Punisher video game (loosely based on the 2004 movie, with inspiration from the comic books), as part of the good games series alongside Simpsons hit and run. Scarface 2006, and Ghostbusters 2009 are also some pretty good movie based video games.

Dont forget The Warriors by Rockstar, Goldeneye 64 and several other 007 games like From Russia with Love and The World is Not Enough Also The Bourne Conspiracy, Chronicles of Riddick, and a handful of Star Wars games. Also import wise, G-Saviour for PS2 (it was a Gundam game) was legit better than the live action movie it was based on (but that wasnt a hard task). Also dont forget X-Men Origins: Wolverine (which was also better than the movie). And Peter Jackson's King Kong the Movie the Game, and Spider-Man 2 of course Monsters vs Aliens was pretty decent Die Hard Trology and DIe Hard Arcade was good Jurassic Park arcade was good as well as the Telltales game SNK's Double Dragon fighting game was good Friday the 13th the Game for PS4/XB1/PC was good Disney's Aladdin game by Capcom was good Probaly some various Lego Movie games Mad Max game was good The Watchmen: End is Nigh was decent The 2016 Ratchet & Clank game was good and was actually based on the movie The two Robocop arcade games were good Several Aliens arcade games were good as well as Capcom's Alien vs Predator and Alien Isolation Scott Pilgrim vs the World was good The Sky Crawlers Innocent Aces was good Terminator 2 Judgement day arcade game was good also Robocop vs Terminator Several Toy Story games were good Wanted: Weapons of Fate was decent I believe the first Transformers movie game was good Fast & Furious Tokyo Drift for PS2 as also good (mainly because they just copy pasted Tokyo Xtreme Racer) Also Street Fighter the Movie the Game (arcade version for the hilarity of its broken moves) The PS3 Captain America game was pretty good.

I can't think of any games that are the type that you guys usually play.

I think an Insomniac or Arkham style game could actually be really cool, going around the city and having different things to do!
