Dew’s letter made me cry 😭😭😭

There was something Jade mentioned about changing our accents when we talk to foreigners, especially with westerners like e.g. Americans, Canadians, British, Australians etc... I realised that these westerners don't change their accents for me even when they are living in Malaysia, while I did. I would have this insecurity with my heritage and ethnicity, so much that the first year after I came back from studies in England that I became insecure of sounding like a Malaysian. To this day, I think I still hold that white superiority ideology, but I'm more aware of that tendency. Now, when I speak in a more Malaysian way, I'm thinking, it's okay, it's also less stressful and I'm still me. Maybe sometimes I do sound like an American/British with Malaysian accent, but whatever. I can talk with regular Malaysians without feeling like a stranger in my own country so much now.

I really feel sorry for Dew. He had a rough childhood. Joanna is really a sweetheart, always love her family. Sofia I can relate, my grandmother passed away 3 years ago and she is the best story teller. She is always excited for every Christmas and I always get her gifts. Since she left, there's a void in my life. Anyways, I was excited to hear Jade's letter to her kids (cos I'm a mother myself) then she started to talk about unrelated stuff until the end then I finally get it. Hahahaha.. Then got sponsor some more. Lol. But I've already got my galaxy watch 4 and my buds 2 last month. 😑

I like and agree with Jade' s letter. I grew up in Singapore as a US citizen. I love Singapore for everything it and it's people are. I cannot wait to live there again.

when i go overseas i don't change my slang, but i would if they don't get it (america, english need to talk like days of our lives hahaha slow drag slow) but its weird when i'm overseas, people who have worked around the world, recognize and proudly say "hey you from singapore?" and always end with "yeah i love it there, work there before" lol.. And yeah, i felt that way before too. Also travel makes me appreciate my singaporeaness hahahaha.
